Well, with Chris Paul back at LG, that leaves Allegretti at Center OR ideally Coleman who should be starting somewhere on the line. IF Brandon Coleman can become an effective Center (he played some in college I hear) then the woes of Allegretti are gone. However, I heard Keim indicate he spoke with someone who knows line play outside the team who didn't think there was a huge dropoff from Badass to Allegretti, primarily due to leadership and asserting the right calls, of course physically he's not as good. So, having Paul back has a domino effect of flexing Brandon Coleman to Center as a new possibility. Although I bet they still draft on in say the 5th round, where they can still be found. I think I am ok with where they are at Center now. My main worry is WR2, WR3, CB2, RB1, then maybe Safety and more Edge and Kicker.
WR2 is a legit gap that MUST be resolved, the rest we can survive another year if need be

Re: 2026 Commanders Free Agency

I'm starting to think about who's out there for WR2, most of these guys have attitude concerns, including both 49ers guys. Deebo is fine though, so he should be an option. Keenan Allen is 32, but he's a big dude and can play the slot and outside. I can see a world where we sign him for a year to be our #2. I know he is not 25, but neither is anyone else worth a crap who is available. Other guys are either small slot only guys, or have some sort of legal trouble or curse guys wives on the field (jennings)
Deebo doesn't do that crap. Having a good teammate is more important than another 100 yards receiving in my opinion.

Why are all the remaining available WR head cases?

Or should I ask, why do NFL GMs not immediately sign highly talented WR who have a chip on their shoulder, to the point where they get arrested, or assault, or bad mouth, or refuse to honor contracts..I mean what the hell is up with these primandonas?
Give me Art Monk 2.0 please.
Deebo is looking better with every passing day

Yes I heard Keim say the same thing so it does look as though it'll be Allegrettu and Coleman battling it out for the starting job and, as you say, drafting somebody in the 5th or 6th

Re: 2026 Commanders Free Agency

I think AP is still keeping his options open for Deebo and Aiyuk. Given he doesn't appear to have pursued Jennings and signed Brown and Jefferson as depth competition, I think he's waiting to see what SF do and whether Deebo signs before the draft. He then has options in/after the draft if both are going to be available. I don't agree with drafting a WR at 7 as it stands, but he could get a WR2 after rd 1 and not bother with Aiyuk/Deebo. All options are in play at this point.

I think in all of this we have to pay some attention to the fact that this may very well be Terry's last year. So as well as the immediate need they also need to keep an eye on the future. Does that mean they take WR at 7? I don't know. Or they could take one later, I mean Terry was a 3rd rounder but then again so was Dyami. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Washington is signing RB Jerome Ford to a one-year deal, per @RapSheet and @MikeGarafolo. The Commanders add another RB after landing Rachaad White. They entered with only Jacory Croskey-Merritt under contract and now have three.

Re: 2026 Commanders Free Agency

AP really has set things up so he can literal do anything with the #7. BPA works whoever it is, or the right trade back for more picks could really top off the roster. I doubt they trade back as I'm not sure the value is there for another team to trade up compared to the value of the player we can get. But if they could drop down a few slots and get an extra pick or 2 and we could get a top WR and change.

That's true, although I still maintain that we are weak at safety. We did sign Cross, but he's a box safety, and we really don't have anyone that can be trusted to cover back there. But I agree this sets up BPA quite well.

Camp competition at WR should be fun to watch -- Jefferson, Brown, Lane, McCaffrey, and Burks will likely be vying for 4 spots (assuming we sign another WR that e expect to be our WR2 -- Aiyuk, I imagine -- and go with 6 WRs on the roster).

I imagine he will be just a body camp unless White or Ford bombed the training camp

Ford is a better RB than McNichols, but yeah special teams is a factor.

Re: 2026 Commanders Free Agency

I just read that the NFL gives out performances bonuses of its own(I had no idea -- https://heavy.com/sports/nfl/washing...bonus-payment/), and that Chris Paul got $1.2M for working his was up from being a 7th round pick to a 15-game starter.

Happy for him -- great success story for him and for the team.
