Re: Post Draft: Who do you want at WR2 / X Receiver?
Aiyuk timeframe update:
It is was speculated that the 49ers would drop Aiyuk after/if he reported to mandatory OTAs. Jun 9th was a mandatory OTA, but it was just canceled by Shannahan for OTAs having 100% attendance (which isn't true as Aiyuk is on the roster) Soo, that pushes back the next mandatory date to training camp itself around July 22nd as the first date Aiyuk could show up and become a problem, especially July 23rd which is open to the fans. So this move pushes back an earliest possible release date by 6 weeks. If I'm Aiyuk and want to ever play in the NFL again, I start working my butt off to get into football shape and show up as a major distraction, otherwise his NFL career is over. In any case, I think it will be case closed on July 23rd when the fans show up at training camp for the 49ers. If he doesn't show, he costs them nothing and he is just perpetually a ghost trapped on the 49ers. My opinion is we don't need someone who is unpredictable and injured, regardless of upside. I am open to Diggs, otherwise, it looks like we may roll with Terry and a ton of ??? Which likely means a losing season

Quote:
I don’t think our season will come down to either signing Diggs or Aiyuk or having a losing season. (Candidly, I’m a bit more worried about our secondary.) but every year, WRs seem to come out of nowhere and play well. Alex Pierce had 30-40 catches and about 500 yards in his first two seasons and then caught fire. Nico Collins’ first two years he caught fewer than 40 passes for less than 500 yards. There are many examples of guys needing a few years before becoming major contributors- not everyone can be Nacua or Chase. If our coaches think we have one (or more) of these guys, I’ll trust their judgment. I certainly won’t assume a losing season at this point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Post Draft: Who do you want at WR2 / X Receiver?
Keep an eye on Kayshon Boutte from NE as a possible trade acquisition as their WR room is crowded. He's a deep threat guy and played with Jayden Daniels at LSU.
He's similar to Dyami in some ways as he isn't huge. He's in the last year of his rookie contract, but there is little motivation for NE to trade him other than burrying him on the depth chart as injury insurance and release after the season vs getting something for him now. My guess is he's worth max a 5th rounder, but we likely would not give more than a 6th for such a guy, particularly one with only one year remaining. How much better is he than our current guys? Hmmm. Not sure, but he is likely better than our current #2 wr candidates, NE obviously does not think he is a valid #2 as they signed Doubs to upgrade over him I would consider giving them a 6th right now for him, and then extend him 2 more years, at least then we have a young guy locked in who can go deep. But that is based on an assumption that NE's #4 is better than our #2 options I know this is just a massive rumor at this point. But it is getting some traction
