I like this signing but this CB room is still below average and that's a dangerous game in today's NFL. |

We will know more when training camp starts in a couple weeks. Regarding Douglas. There is an unfortunate world were he is our #1 CB if Amos remains injured. I see Douglas as one of 3 clear outside corners #1 Amos #2 Douglas #3 Witherspoon We don't even know if Mikey or Amik Robertson are being considered outside. Mikey was drafted as a slot CB, and he sucked bad last year outside. People assume it was because or scheme and injuries and that he is penciled in as our outside 2 CB because they paid a lot for Amik Robertson from the lions who historically covered the slot. But Robertson wasn't good either. And on a blog about this topic by a Lions insider, I heard something new, that Robertson was bad inside and his outside work against Jefferson opened some eyes. So oddly, maybe the skins see Mikey back to the slot and Robertson outside (stretch) If that is the case, I see why they needed Rasul Douglas. Douglas is definitely an outside guy, he is historically the best outside guy they have except some flashes from Amos and Robertson who is shorter. I don't remember seeing a lot of outside CB flashes from Mikey last year, just a lot of QBs picking on him for TDs I am truly just as confused for CB 2 as I am for WR2. To me its actually a 3 man race, they want Amik or Mikey to nail it, but Douglas is likely better at this point of doing that job. Witherspoon? Meh So yeah, if Amos is still rehabbing, yes, they must put Douglas in. I see him as his clear backup, and outside CB backup overall, even over one of the two shorter slot guys. Who knows Maybe it is Outside 1: Amos Outside 2: Robertson/Douglas Nickle: Mikey (robertson) The safest move is actually Amos and Douglas outside and either Mikey or Robertson in thee slot. I'm sure their plan was to play Robertson a lot and Mikey too. Maybe they convert one to safety. It is really a puzzle, but getting Douglas really, really helps. Sacks are not going to magically make CB play that is bad suddenly terrific. Average, sure. So making a cb who is average suddenly good is entirely possible in Douglas

Here's the link of a podcast of the guy that asked him about it about 2 minutes in https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...FAFvkRyBcIfNi6 Here's another nice link on the cb situation: https://riggosrag.com/commanders-fan...ood-completely Some folks suggesting Rasul Douglas is more than backup CB. It will be interesting to watch as Amos works his way back into practicing with the team. It actually could be a good thing getting CB3/4 some first string reps if Amos needs more time outside of team drills. Anyways, its great to hear Amos said he will be ready by camp.

Re: New CB Rasul Douglas signed
Well, Amos is on the PUP list, so he is not full go at the start of training camp.
I mean I don't like it because its a new defense, but it does presumably get Rasul Douglas some starting reps with a brand new team which could help a lot. https://www.si.com/nfl/commanders/on...-training-camp I just hope they are being extra cautious here with Amos, but with the expected complexities and disguises of the secondary, I sure hope this delay with Amos doesn't last more than a week or two into training camp.

Re: New CB Rasul Douglas signed
Pick 6 day 2 of camp. The extra reps are great for non Amos folks.

Re: New CB Rasul Douglas signed
Looks like Douglas is a roster lock
Outside corner Witherspoon is now gone, replaced by Fabian Moreau, who frankly may be a better fit, knowing the vikings scheme, being better against the run, and more steady, albeit not as talented. Moreau is fine as a backup, he may or may not even make the squad, if so, it is CB 5. And specifically, border corner 3 behind Amos and Douglas. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news...spoon-retires/
