As for gear off the clock, my neighbor never did (or his buddies) and when I watch Pigging Out on Comcast or the Monday night show (also on Comcast)with Jansen and others, they dont have gear on either. I also dont see them wearing gear when being interviewed on the news heading home from the park in the evening. Small sample sizes I agree but facts nonetheless.
Actually right after we beat the Eagles, on Monday Night Live, Jansen broke out the playoff bound tshirts for himself, Springs, and Chick Hernandez. And he smiled the entire time he passed them out, I think that means he liked it.

Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?

I bought Champ Bailey a hot dog after a preseason game with the Steelers a couple of years ago. I was hammered, wearing my dad's old Dexter Manley jeresey and talking like an idiot. Good times...

I can attest to this, only because I've heard the story a million times...from both him and his dad.

Irish and the rest of you - to each his own. No need to argue what's right and wrong. We're all part of the game of life here.

I wear my jersey during games, and that's about it. I have a skins hat I wear frequently during the fall and winter, but other than that, I try to keep the jersey for game days. My PC, from time to time, will have Skins wallpaper, or my phone may sing Hail to the Redskins when someone calls me. It's all in what you do, not what the other guy does.

Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?

Arrington has said that he loves seeing people wearing his #.

Personally I like wearing jerseys, I'm not trying to be a wannabe player or anything, I just like wearing jerseys. They're comfortable and I think they're cool.

To each his own. Some people may think it's childish, I say oh well. To paraphrase the great John Riggins, loosen up Irish baby!!

I have my Redskins boxers on that my mom made for me, my dad and son. Just waiting for someone to ask me to "pull em out"!

Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?

Good point warpath.

The only jersey I have I bought 2 years ago when Champ Bailey was still on the team.

*Sigh* How I long to be not so damn outdated. lol I'll trade a Bailey jersey for the Springs one anyone? Haha. But yeah, guess I'll sport the old Bailey tomorrow.

Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?

I still pretend I'm whichever redskins jersey I'm wearing when I play football with the boys, is that so wrong? Sometimes I'm Brunell, sometimes I'm portis, sometimes I'm old school Allen/Taylor #21 I did it as a kid and I'll be damned if I'm gonna stop!

Re: Wearing Your Redskins Gear?

First let me start off by saying what we MUST say. Everyone has their opinions. My opinion is not better or worse than anyone else's opinion. This cannot be proved in any way because there is nothing to prove and this is just solid opinions so no one can be right or wrong.
------

Everyone wears shit from their favorite team. I don't think i am part of the team or that i am clinton portis right now. What about bands. People wear t-shirts from their favorite bands all the time. Chris Cooley does it everyday. I wear my jersey to represent the team. I don't wear it to be PART of the team but i am representing my like for them them. Not like i a representative of the team but i do represent my own likings. I like cooley he is my favorite player and that is why i want his jersey. I show that i am a redskin fan and it isn't pride. Its not like i am proud to be a skins fan. I could be a fan of anyone so i am not 'proud'. I do show it off to show that i like the skins. it tells people something about me. See him? he is a redskins fan. See that bitch over there?? he is a dallas fan. See that band wagon whore over there? he is a colts fan. People ask me will the skins win this week?? I say yes. Like SBF said people ask him on the street about the skins. It shows who you support. It is something about yourself. It adds color and a personality. everything you wear tells people who you are. being bland tells them nothing about you but wearing your favorite player's jersey tells people that they might have something in common with you or they might not. Cooley's band shirts tells people, hey i can talk to him about music when ever or me wearing a 24 shirt tells them that they can talk to me about the greatest show on television and wearing football shirts tells people they can talk shit about how the skins suck.

In this sense irish you are saying it is pathetic to like the team also. do you only watch the game because you want to be there? Tell me why do you watch games?? why do you care if the skins win this week?? What is there in it for you?? DO you think it is funny that every sunday millions of people watch football? do you think it is ammusing that people care so much about the team to come to a site??
I think it is entertainment and that is why people watch.
