Champ Bailey

I have to post this, Bailey read the play very well but the kind of guy I want on my team is the tight end from New England. He never quit on the play and chased down Bailey from a 100 yards. Yeah it might have been at an angle but he chased him down and never quit on the play...hats off to him.

Re: Bailey

Poor Bailey was exhausted. But yes, those are the kind of guys that you want on your team - ones with a never say die attitude. I think we have some of those guys playing on our team right now. Can't wait till FA and the draft to see who we acquire.

Re: Bailey

Bailey shouldnt have ever held the ball like that, it was a nice play till then (even though he almost lost the ball to that RB early on because of holding it one handed. Ben Watson = the next D. Green?

Re: Bailey

I can't even watch that game. In light of today's loss, I'm not going to watch any more games this weekend. I'm in a state of total mourning.

Re: Bailey

So, on a fumble, the goalline does not extend into infinity; the ball has to come across between the pylons? Seems to me that, if not, that was definitely a touchback.

I wanted us to draft him, but I am very happy we went with Cooley.

New England really got screwed in this one, and that return by Bailey was a touchback, but after seeing that pass interference call go against the Pat's at the end of the first half I knew there was no way that call with Bailey was going to be reversed. Pretty tough 2 TD's and the ref's blew them both.

Re: Bailey

I HATE to think that Bailey left us because we weren't a winning team and he's now on a team that is going to the AFC Championship. Hopefully, the Colts will win tomorrow and spank the living hell out of the Broncos at the RCA Dome.

Re: Champ Bailey

I love big effort plays like that from Watson... Bailey had no clue that hit was coming

I think it can be reasonably deduced that the ball went through the endzone but there wasn't indistputable evidence that it. Or even close. The best that could be done was to spot the landing of the ball and the release point and draw a line like they did on TV(not very well but at laest they tried). I don't think that method is in the indisputable evidence category. Maybe wrong call but right on the replay as far as the rules.

Re: Champ Bailey

For those of us trying to slit our wrists, could you please explain what happened on the play? Did Bailey start to showboat with the ball and get it stripped?

Bailey just slowed up a bit on his 100 yard INT return, Watson hustled and blasted him out of nowhere

The thing was as soon as I saw it happen I said touchback because it looked like a no brainer, so whichever way the ref ruled it it was going to stand, it looked like to me they didn't even consider it. once I saw the replay I knew it was a touchback, but I also knew they wouldn't overturn it, but it was a touchback.

The only thing I could say is his foot hit the pyllon and the ball was to his right in the field of play, it was a simple deduction but I knew it would stand.

if anyone had to wager how far Watson actually had to run on that incredible hustle play for anyone much less a tightend chasing down a cornerback? since he was more than halfway across the field and had to track down bailey on the opposite sideline I'd guess about 130 or so.
