i posted this in another thread but i'll post it again in this one. holmgren out coached bill cower last night. the seahawks came out gunning, they moved the ball at will against the steelers defense. the seahawks defense held pitt. to NO first downs the entire first quarter, they caused big ben to have the worse qb rating ever for a sb winning qb. jeremy stevens and the pittsburge refferees were the reasons behind seattle's short commings. the only thing holmgren did wrong was call a running play with little time left at the end of the first half and punt the ball back to pitt. with 6 minutes remaining in the game. other than those two mistakes he called a great game . you can't blame holmgren for his TE dropping passes and for those horrible refs. all that confussion at the end of the first half was hasselback's fault, he was trying to audible to a different play.

the last 2 minutes of each half were horrible, holmgren is in charge of his players, that houldn't happen.

stevens sucked, but they kept throwing to him anyways.

If holmgren really did outcoach the steelers, he'd have a ring right now.

you think cower was the better coach in that game ? he had every major call by the refs go his teams way plus cower doesn't even call the plays. the steelers made 3 good plays all night. thats it 3.

Let's throw the ball on third and long with :30 left in the game, down by 2 scores instead of kicking a field goal. Yeah - that's some stellar playcalling right there.

ok you kick the field goal. what next, oh yea, try an onsides kick, they work all the time. if by chance you get the onsides kick, believe you me hasselback will be throwing the ball 30 yards on 3rd down as well as 1st , 2nd and possibly 4th.

come on , get real. the game was well over at that point. the refs would not have allowed a miracle come back by seattle.

Holmgren's gameplan was great in the first quarter, when they actually threw to DJax. 5 catches in the first quarter, none for the rest of the game. Nice Holmgren. Way to expose the Steeler's crappy secondary.

jeremy stevens was their way but he was having trouble catching. holmgrens game plan was perfect but his players didn't execute well enough. when the players did play well the refs steped in and put a stop to it.

Um...yeah - I'm the one that needs to get in touch with reality...

Fact is, he botched the last couple of minutes of both halves, not to mention he was mediocre at best for a good portion of the second half. It doesn't make him an awful coach, but it sure makes your claim that he "perfectly coached 58-59 minutes out of 60" sound a bit silly.

holmgren botched or his players botched ? i say his players. i don't think i said he was perfect for 58,59 minutes but what i did say was he had a perfect gameplan and that he coached well for 58, 59 minutes. the gameplan was good, it was the execution that faultered.

everyone needs to get off this last 2 minutes crap, holmgren did nothing wrong. he was letting his players play. qbs audible all the time, what, you think he supposed to look over at holmgren and say "please coach , can i audible ? please, pretty please. can i" ?

he played pretty poorly this year (though better than his other years). lots of balls thrown his way, LOTS of drops. he can't block, and he's very average at his strength.

he had been playing good in the playoffs. if the steelers were taking jackson out of the game but leaving stevens open, then i can't fault holmgren or hasselback for trying to get the ball to the open guy.
