Re: Wojciechowski answers all Warpath threads in one article

He's got a nice take here

Quote:
The striped shirts didn't cause tight end Jerramy Stevens to drop four passes. The striped shirts didn't cause the Seahawks defense to give up a Steelers first down on a third-and-28 situation (which later led to the Roethlisberger disputed TD). The striped shirts didn't cause the Seahawks defense to give up the longest touchdown run in Super Bowl history. They also didn't cause Etric Pruitt to sprint up from his safety position, only to be fooled by the trick play that resulted in Randle El's 43-yard TD pass to Ward (and by the way, if everyone knows the Steelers like to run gadget plays near midfield, don't you think the Seahawks knew it too?). Or cause Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck to throw a killer interception with nearly 11 minutes left in the game and Seattle trailing by only four points.

Enough already with the whining. The Seahawks had their chances. Plenty of them to overcome the Steelers and, if they insist, the refs, too.

Re: Wojciechowski answers all Warpath threads in one article

"Sorry, but Roethlisberger might have broken the plane of the goal line on his second quarter 1-yard TD dive. Or not. That's what matters, right? Not where he landed, but if the ball broke the plane? The play was reviewed and upheld. What else was anyone supposed to do? And while there are no guarantees, if the ball had been spotted just short of the goal line, the Steelers were 100 percent on fourth-and-goals this season."

i like that a lot, i cant stand listening to seahawks sympathizers anymore

And what's his favorite pie??

If he really wants to write a column that speaks to us Warpathers, he'll have to write the same column four or five different times, with a subtle change in the title each time

Re: Wojciechowski answers all Warpath threads in one article

He has the same take and the same lame excuses as everyone had for years about steroids in baseball, all we heard is there are no steroids in baseball, and how they can't make you a better ballplayer and on and on, guess what they were all wrong. And now we have him ranting about how the Refs didn't cause Stevens to drop 4 passes and a blown play by the safety, well didn't Ward drop a sure TD in the end zone, which I do believe 2 plays later went the other way with an INT? The point is the Steelers were making the same mistakes if not worse than the Hawks, they had fewer total yards, and more turnovers, so what determined this game? How bout when Pitt made a big play there wasen't a flag insight, but when Seattle made a big play there were flags but no foul, and thats all it takes. Seattle was basically stripped of 2 TD's, I would have loved to see Big Ben have to play from behind when everyone knew he had to throw, considering his stellar performance in that game.

Perhaps this guy doesn't understand momentum and how that can affect a game? Perhaps he doesn't understand that it's much tougher to play behind rather than in front, there are to many varibles to consider when tides of a game are turned regardless of how it happens, legitamatly or not. To blame seattle for not playing the perfect game, and praise the Steelers who played an even worse game who happened to benefit from some questionable calls to say the least, is very short sighted.

Re: Wojciechowski answers all Warpath threads in one article

Seattle "outgained" Pittsburgh in total yards 396-339.

Not exactly a huge difference.

Pittsburgh turned the ball over twice compared to once for Seattle.

Again not exactly a huge difference.

Neither team played particularly well, but the Steelers made big plays and Seattle didn't. Seattle missed 2 FG's, Hasselbeck threw a backbreaking pick late in the game, and Stevens had 4 key drops. That's what the game boils down to for me.

Blaming the refs is taking the easy way out.
