Congratulations Russ Grimm
I almost forgot this. Russ Grimm won his fourth Super Bowl ring as assistant head coach - offensive line for the Steelers. Grimm went to the U of Pittsburgh and coached the Redskins o-line from '97 to '99. Everybody here knows his reputation as one of the Hogs. I'm happy for him.
Congratulation Russ! |

Re: Congratulations Russ Grimm
There is a strong - and persistent - rumor out there that Russ Grimm would have been the head coach of the Detroit Lions if the Steelers had been out of the playoffs earlier. The rumor goes that Millen wanted to hire Grimm and Grimm had been making some very discreet inquiries around the league about the availablilty of assistant coaches but that Millen figured he HAD t have a coaching hire well before the hype of Super Bowl week in Detroit. So when the Steelers kept winning, Grimm lost that job opportunity.
Obviously, I don't know if that is all true or not, but that story is out there and it hasn't gone away in the last 3-4 weeks...

Re: Congratulations Russ Grimm
don't worry, the lions will be looking for another head coach in two years... he'll get his shot
its been a weird offseason though... head coaches becoming assistants (tice, sherman, martz) while all thee teams hire 30 year olds with less than amazing experience. I expect at least 6-8 of the young coaches to fail miserably due to lack of experience and lack of talent on their staffs. |

Re: Congratulations Russ Grimm
I will contribute to the Congratulations Russ Grimm Thread.
Good Job Russ. We knew you could do it. Now come back to Washington and help Bugel coach the O-Line. We are currently taking in head coaching canidates by the handful. Don't worry our pockets are bottomless. You'll have that new yatcht in no time.
