I don't think Spurrier thought he had a boatload of talent... but I don't think it mattered to him... he believed in his system and was going to keep at it, win or lose. He was going to use players that knew his system, regardless of their proven ability. I agree that he didn't work hard enough and he didn't make the team work hard enough.
But then again, any system with no pass protection, a lousy RB and a young QB is going to have problems, regardless of how hard they work.

These issues are exactly why I can't understand why King thinks that the Giants will come around faster than the Skins. Coughlin may instill a new sense of discipline, but they still don't have anyone to throw the ball down the field, anyone to block for the QB, or a RB that can hang onto the ball.

Discipline is great, but execution scores points. I just don't see the Giants doing a lot of that this year.

Point is I think the cupboard is far from bare here in DC, and Gibbs has more to work with than Coughlin and is better equipped to get results. I know we'll be better equipped to compete this year and should be better than the G-men.
