Re: Face of the Redskins

There is no more face of the team, this is the final step in Gibbs creating a total team environment where no single player stands above the team.

That's the ideal, but I don't believe any great team is that way. Even the Patriots had Brady.

I think that Portis is the face of the team. I actually believe he has been it for atleast a year.

True every team has their stars and players that the media picks up on as being the "face of the team", but the mindset of the Patriots is very much a true team mindset and that's the same thing Gibbs is doing here.

The thing is like the patriots with Brady the media brought him out. The media brought out Bruschi and Vinitieri. The media will bring people out as the face of the team so even if Joe Gibbs and the skins want it to just be the team they will always bring someone out as their media fav to be the fan fav. I'll agree that portis has played in to it with all the costumes and i'm glad they didn't affect his great season but Mr. Gibbs is still the man

well put Mattyk & someone else who said Gibbs. That was part of our problem in the Lavar years, we needed a player to market rather than marketing the team. those teams had no image, so it was easy to put lavar out there. Now Gibbs is the image, 3 super bowls w/3 qb's; we don't need any one player to stand out so much.
