It would be asking a lot for a young guy to get GW D that fast and started. But you never know.
some LBs are more interchangeable than others. If D'Qwell iss available and we go draft, he'd probably only be taken if the staff thought he could play OLB for at least the first year or two (if not forever).

Re: Ryan Clark

prioleau is the primary safety backup and spot corner too. omar will probably be back. springs can also play safety, though obviously that's not the best use with our current CB depth.

Re: Ryan Clark

i was wondering if the weight lifting/overtraining he does would cause him more injuries than anything that happened on the field... his contract is set up as that of an injury prone player, so its worth noting if nothing else.

Arch is a goat IMHO. While he's missed tackles, hasn't made any big plays, isn't a great safety, and Ryan Clark was good, it's not as though Ryan Clark was Ed Reed.

No he wasn't, but he played across from Ed Reed. They helped each other be as good as they were. Look at it, Polamalu and Hope were great...why? Cause one was selfish and the other wasn't. You can't have this many captains and expecto to win. You need role players too. Guys who are in the right place, not trying to make every play.

He's the next Mark Brunell in terms of his goatiness.

I guess every team needs a goat.

well, every chain has a weak link. or in the case of our defense, more than one.

Re: Ryan Clark

It couldn't possibly be that the goats have some blame. We payed big money for Phil Collins here, and hes done nothing.

The guy isn't great and he deserves criticism, but people wouldn't be bashing him so much if the defense as a whole was playing better. The defensive woes can't be laid at the feet of just Arch and Carter; the problems seem to run a lot deeper.

Re: Ryan Clark

True, because the pass rush has been non-existant so the secondary is going to suffer because of it.

Re: Ryan Clark

There are a lot of guys that are underperforming this year. It doesn't all boil down to Brunell and Archuleta. You win as a team and lose as one. I really wish that replacing either or both of these guys was the easy answer.

Re: Ryan Clark

honstely, carter has been alright. i think we all expected like 10 sacks out of him so far. hes been around the QB a LOT and still has like 2.5.

You do not judge a DE by sacks alone. Stopping the run is just as important as sacks, but stopping the run does not get all the headlines like sacks. Carter has been terrible against the run.
