i like frank thomas but i wouldn't consider him a class act since almost every time he opens his mouth, he complains about money.

I've never heard him complain about money.
I have heard that he has taken *less* money to stay with the Sox, though.

there was something a year or 2 ago when thomas said he was being robbed by the white sox and they were trying to keep part of his money from him or something like that. i am glad to see he and griffey back to their old hitting ways cuz i'm so freaking tired of every baseball discussion or topic on tv having something to do with mr. steriods barry bonds.

In 2002, the White Sox invoked a clause in Thomas' contract called a diminished skills clause. By doing this, his salary dropped from $10million to ~$250k. Another stipulation of doing this was that Thomas could immediately void the contract with penalty and enter free agency.

"But I can't complain about the money I'm making. If you want to categorize it, yes I am a designated hitter the majority of the time, so I think I'm being paid fairly in that aspect. If I'm going to be on field half the time, then we can work on some other things." - Thomas after agreeing to a $6million contract following the 'dispute'

i don't remember it being that big of a difference in the pay cut, but i remember him answering questions about it and a couple times he sounded like a prick and this is coming from a guy who, like i said, was and is a fan of thomas. seeing that pay cut explains why he sounded the way he did.
