Meet Brandon Lloyd

1st in a series of new player profiles

Brandon Lloyd
Position: WR
Height: 6-0
Weight: 192
Born: 07/05/1981
College: Illinois
NFL Experience: 3

Scouts Inc. Profile:

Quote:
Lloyd has marginal size for a receiver lacking both the ideal height and the bulk for the position. However, he makes up for his lack of ideal size with excellent athletic ability. He has very good foot quickness and good speed, though his top end speed is not in the elite class. He has a good surge off the line of scrimmage and runs precise routes. He has a burst coming out of his cuts to get separation and shows the ability to move a defender who is in man coverage with very little wasted motion. He uses his hands and his foot quickness to get off press coverage and knows how to find the voids in coverage. He has excellent hands and can make the acrobatic catch. He shows excellent focus and concentration on the ball when it is in the air, and with his long arms and his leaping ability, he will win most jump ball contests. He can be a threat with the ball in his hands and has a good feel for where he is on the field and where the sideline is at all times. He lacks the physical stature to be a physical blocker down field and is more of a screen and wall off guy. A big, strong defensive back can muscle him out of his routes on occasion. Overall, he needs to improve his strength and is becoming a reliable go-to receiver with excellent hands who is competitive for the ball in any situation. He usually catches what he can touch.
His official website

Career Stats:

Receiving:
2003: 14 catches, 212 yards, 15.1 avg., 2 TD
2004: 43 catches, 565 yards, 13.1 avg., 6 TD
2005: 48 catches, 733 yards, 15.3 avg., 5 TD

Re: Meet Brandon Lloyd

once someone pointed out we couldn't get a WR in the draft that'd contribute immediately (duh, something i've said myself a ton of times :/ ) I was a lot more at ease with giving up the picks. hopefully his attitude problems stay in san fran.

Re: Meet Brandon Lloyd

If he can get over the drop problem (if he even has one) I can see him being a lot like Chad Johnson.

16 Games
48 Rec
733 Yds
45.8 Yds. per gm
15.3 Avg catch
89 Yd. longest catch
3.4 YAC
34 First Downs
5 TD
0 Kick Returns
1 Fumble

Stats courtesy of my Yahoo! Fantasy League!

Lloyd was the #37th ranked WR.

Your guess as to why we paid so much, both in Draft picks and in Cash.

I'm not sold totally for or against him, just driven to get the best Fantasy Value when I re-start my League.

Re: Meet Brandon Lloyd

well, moss is top 5 and randle is top 37, so that's a pretty good pair. you gotta figure lloyd would do better with an NFL qb tossing him balls and moss taking the #1 CB off him.

Trust me guys, Lloyd is the perfect man for the job. Lets leave fantasy stats aside -- think Moss (Santana, Randy OR Carrie) could have done any better with Alex "Small Hands" Smith and Cody "Rodeo Clown" Pickett tossing them the ball? The fact is that he was an good player on a BAD team. By the middle of next year getting Lloyd for a 3rd and a '07 4th is going to look like the absolute steal that it is.

Re: Meet Brandon Lloyd

Alot of people scratched their heads in wonder when we acquired Moss last year and immediately inked him to a nice contract, we all know how that turned out.

He can jump....I saw some were he jump seven foot high jump in high school. I believe he will get better playing with players and coaches that are in Washington vs SF! The sky is the limit. If he works hard this could be a trade that we smile about for years!

And you know from watching him today in the interview with George Michael & Joe Gibbs he certainly does not sound like a guy with an attitude problem. He seems very excited about being here and want's to be here for a long time. His main goal seems to be about winning, and of course that's what it's about.

Re: Meet Brandon Lloyd

Oh, but he does have "attitude problems". And hopefully they will go away once he is on a team that is not a double-digit underdog every week. The word all over SF was that the coaching staff was praying that they could get some kind of offer to move him out of town so they could get something in return because they really did not want him back.

If he was simply frustrated with the ineptitude of the Niners, then he'll be fine here. But if he is a head case, he'll clash with the coaching staff here as much if not worse than he did in SF.

Keep an eye on this one; it could be a valuable addition to the Skins or it could be a monumental bust.

Oh, and any resemblance between Brandon Lloyd and Chad Johnson ends once you have observed that each player has two hands and two legs and one a$$hole...
