Re: Your opinion on the Skins free agent moves so far?
After listening to the three new Redskins in their press conferences, I am convinced that this free agency year has already made history for the amount of talent and upside all of these players bring. Andre Carter is only 26 years old and Brandon Lloyd is 24. In fact no player we have signed is over 30 years of age. Which makes this free agency much different than 2000.
Randle El said it best, He came to Washington because of how they approached him and showed him how he fit in this offense. Al Saunders is to be commended for his approach to the offense because very few players would have agreed to accept a subordinate role to Moss after winning being the hottest FA after the Superbowl.

but TEs don't count, and i agree with bringing in young guys that could easily outperform their contracts instead of 32 year olds who could never live up to them.R'El came for the money though flat out. I'm sure he liked a lot of things about the skins, but with equal offers, he'd be in chicago. I don't really think you can expect to be a #1 on a team that has the #2 WR in the league if you haven't even put up close to half his stats. |

I called for fauria, but thought El would be overpriced. I was 2/2 on that. no clue about those others though.

Re: Your opinion on the Skins free agent moves so far?
I think all the moves are great, we are plugging in the holes, but i also think that we seriously overpaid for randle el and archuleta. Sean Taylor has 17 mil over 7 years, Archuleta has 30 mil over 6 years. Something tells me in a couple seasons or such taylor will be holding out for a new deal. Randle el, while being good at a variety of positions, is not worth 30 mil. And if we don't win the super bowl in say, 4 years, we will be in cap hell. I can only hope that they don't give brandon lloyd 30 mil to be our #2 as well. Andre Carter imo deserved it, he's a proven pass rusher who might be able to make the same impact as griffin. i dunno anything about fauria's deal, but i doubt it's more then 5 mil. I wouldn't put it past this FO though.

I think their good moves with a heavy price tag,I would like us to sign Vinateri,fg kickers can win or lose a game for you every week,I think their importance is underated, not having a good fg kicker cost us the playoffs in Norv's tenure and it made a difference last yr in field position

Re: Your opinion on the Skins free agent moves so far?
i wish we got longwell just cause he's younger. i don't know how much vinetari wants, but its not like tyler jones or a drafted guy would help.
maybe the staff thinks hall's finally healthy and that's why he's still on the roster. The lull in FA signings means we're either waiting for the market to settle, we're good with what we've got, or we're playing with contracts and restructures to make space. it looks like two OL guys have been targetted already by the skins FO (jeff mitchell and some guy that started some games for the giants last year), which means no spencer, which means once again that guy is sad

i really dont think theres going to be a clear-cut #1 receiver. they might have that title, but i have this feeling there will be plays written up for each and every1.

Re: Your opinion on the Skins free agent moves so far?
I like them. Not so sure if there are enough balls though. Portis needs 20 or so carries a game. Moss,Lloyd,Cooley,Randel El,Patten. thats a lot of touches, just hope no one starts bitching.

Re: Your opinion on the Skins free agent moves so far?
i worried about that too until i read what gibbs had to say. he said something about when he had clark, sanders and monk that one of them was always unhappy, but they knew they would score a lot of points and get a lot of yards.

Re: Your opinion on the Skins free agent moves so far?
The problem is that with the new CBA extension, we KNOW the moves are going to come back to bite us ... well, at least a bit. Teams that go over the cap have the following year's cap reduced whereas teams that are over the cap have the following year's cap increased. So how many years is it going to take us to have a salary cap of $5 million?
