Re: Andre Carter

THE REDSKINS DID NOT SIGN ANDRE CARTER AS A LINEBACKER TO REPLACE LAVAR. YOU'D THINK THE PRESS WOULD BE SMARTER THAN THAT

from Fox Sports
Carter would be the natural replacement for departed linebacker LaVar Arrington. The Redskins want to generate more of a pass rush, and Carter has 32 sacks over his five-year career with San Francisco. He had 12 1/2 in 2002 but only 6 1/2 over his last two years.

media people repeat after me
Carter is a DE
Carter is a DE
Carter is a DE
I AM A MEMBER OF THE PRESS AND I AM PUBLISHING THE WRONG INFO

Re: Andre Carter

The Skins are apparently still pursuing John Abraham. If they land him, Carter will almost certainly move to LB.

Daniels had a quality year for us. He is the starter and doesn't need replacing.

Re: Andre Carter

yeah but daniels had 4 sacks against a backup left tackle in one game. if you take out that game he only had 4 sacks over the entire season.

But you cant do that. You have to look at the totals. There are always going to times when things come in clumps. It's called "clumped distribution" and it's the way things always happen in statistics. If you look at a lot of guys, you would see that they tend to dominate a certain guy during the season and that makes his numbers go up.

With Carter on one side and Daniels on the other, things could get really ugly for Bledsoe and Manning.

Re: Andre Carter

If this is the guy they feel can help them, then I am psyched, because once again, the skins got their man despite the fact that another team (and one with sentimental pull--Denver) was in the mix.

Also, it's kinda tough to judge the numbers of anyone on SF--remember how we clobbered them? No one looked good that day, but I am sure there are good players there. I'm not a scout, so I'll trust he's got the qualities that Williams is after.

6.5 sacks as an LB in two years. as a DE he had 25.5 sacks in three years.

Re: Andre Carter

if we're still going after JA that's a huge mistake. that really would press on the money and possibly prevent getting the last three needs filled (CB/LB/OL) and cost us a draft pick.

vinny said they were almost done, so hopefully JA isn't in the plans.

I disagree. The majority of his plays will be at DE but the more versatile players that GW has in his arsenal the better the defense will be. Williams has put together one of the best defenses in the league without a pass rush. That is an incredible feat. Having a great 'tweener is only going to make them more dynamic. If Taylor gets off, this D is going to be incredible.
