Razor guy. Used to keep up with all the Gillette noise, but it got too expensive, so I found a disposable I like, and use that (Bic Comfort 3).
Definitely shave either in the shower, or immediately after. If you can't, be sure to wash your face with a hot damp wash cloth. And be sure to use some sort of after shave to help cut down the irritation. There are also pre-shave things you can put on your face to help cut down the irritation as well. http://www.groominglounge.com/ these guys run 2 shops in the DC area, check out the Grooming advice part of their website.
