Peyton deserves most of the credit, but a lot goes to Edge for his excellent blitz pickup skills, and the threat of running he brought that put more pressure on coodinators to back off the blitz with him in the backfield. With him in Arizona, sit tight and watch the Cards sack totals go way down, and the Colts go up to where they should be with the weak line they have.

The Cards had the no. 1 pass O last year and the no. 32 rushing attack. Again, Edge is exactly what they needed.
I think what they really need is a solid QB who doesn't fumble when he's breathed on.

Warner isn't the answer.

Warner's been successful wherever he's been. 2 MVPs in St. Louis, 5-3 as the QB of the G-men, no. 1 passing O in Arizona. There are about 15-20 teams that wish they had a QB as good as Warner still is.

And thats taking the fumbling problem into consideration.

Of course they had the #1 passing offense, they had no running game to speak of and they were constantly playing from behind.

If he could stay healthy you might have an argument. Trouble is he can't. He hasn't played a full season since 2001. During that time he's been a shadow of his former MVP self with just a 78.15 passer rating, 21 TDs, 25 INTs, and 14 lost fumbles.

There are plenty of teams in the league in need of quality starters, Warner is not a quality starter anymore over the long haul of a season. He might be good for about 10 starts, but that's not enough to get a team into serious contention.

Re: Sportscenter final 4 agree or not?

Yeah Guy I agree but looking at the other options as I said I don't see 3 teams from our division making it so in my assestment it takes the giants and philly out of the playoffs.

Next the north other than Chicago winning the division you really see another team making it nope.

The south you have Atlanta and Tampa with a Possiblity from the 2 tampa has the best chance but it totally rellies on Simms not having a second year (as a starter) slump

And west you have STL and Arizona I'm givving advantage to Arizona for the same things you said...

SO between TB and Arizona maybe the easy pick is TB but as history show's us every year there are teams taht aren't sopouse to make it that do make it Arizona has the easier schedulle and with Edge the upgrade at defense there even if the Oline isn't good I can see them taking the 9 wins specially with N.Raken stealing a couple of wins with his leg that should be enough to take the second WC.

i think bush will eventually be a good player but i dont think he is the reason they win their division. Just look at the past few years, there has been a huge suprse team in the playoffs every year. N.O. has all the tools IF brees can come back healthy.thats a big if but they have asolid running game w/ some real good recievers.

and where is it written that a first year coach cant make the playoffs?

and chiefs over broncos isnt that big of a strectch. plummer showed his true colors in the playoffs last year and i think shanahan will have him on a very short leash this year being that they drafted a qb

Re: Sportscenter final 4 agree or not?

I have been predicting the Skins over the Broncos in the SB for a few months now.

I still stand by my picks.

I'm surprised that aside from a few on this board, nobody seems to give the Broncos any props. They just got a major reciever in javon walker & the rest of the team was already solid. No way the chiefs can win the division over them. I see KC as a team in slow decline.
I also see Atl. as being really tough even if vick gets hurt since they have schaub.
Overall the nfc is going to be tougher all the way around, but a lot of teams are banking on vets in key positions, including us w/brunell. Health will be the difference come december.

I agree with you about the Broncos. I thought'd they'd make the Super Bowl last year. Walker is going to make them very dangerous. I think it will be nice to beat them in another Super Bowl.

I don't think a team lead by Jake Plummer and Ron Dayne will be threatening for the SB anytime soon. They just let their TE walk in FA, replacing him with a draft pick (who they reached on by about 2-3 rounds), and just let the glue of their defensive line, nah their entire defense, jump to Baltimore free of charge. They just paid colossal turd Gerrard Warren, almost ensuring laziness, and replaced the aforementioned Trevor Pryce with Kenard Lang. So tell me, exactly how was this a good offseason for the Broncos?

Re: Sportscenter final 4 agree or not?

I chewed out ESPN here for 20 mins, and then my browser inexplicibly went back a page causing me to lose my essay. I'm going to repost this in two parts. Here are my predictions for the 2006 season:

In the AFC:
Dolphins take the East (11-5, #4 seed)
Steelers take the North (12-4 #2 seed)
Jags take the South (11-5, #3 seed)
Chiefs take the West (13-3, #1 seed)
Wildcards are the Bengals (11-5, #5 seed) and...you guys are going to love this one, Texans (10-6, #6 seed). Teams that were close include the Colts (9-7), the Raiders (8-8), and the Pats (8-8)

In the NFC:
Redskins take the East (13-3, #1 seed)
Panthers take the South (12-4, #2 seed)
Bears take the North (11-5, #4 seed)
Cards take the West (11-5, #3 seed)
And the wildcards are Tampa Bay (10-6, #5 seed), and Dallas (10-6, #6 seed) Close teams include Atlanta at 9-7, and the Giants at 9-7.

Wild Card Weekend:
Jags over Texans
Bengals over Dolphins
Cowboys over Cards
Bears over Bucs

Divisional Round:
Redskins over Cowboys
Jags over Steelers
Bears over Panthers
Chiefs over Bengals

Championship Sunday
Redskins over Bears
Chiefs over Jags

Super Bowl: I guess it's a GTripp tradition to not pick the SB in the preseason. Back in 2002 I said it would be Raiders-Bucs before the year, and didnt pick the SB then. Before the game I picked the Raiders, and we all know how that turned out.

Anyway, I didn't just pick records for teams. I went through the NFL schedule, picked winners in games based on team improvement, schedule trends, and many other factors. Last year for whatever it's worth, I picked 65% preseason picking every game throughout the year (166/256), and picked 3/4 of the league within 2 games of their final record. I'm not saying this to boast about my prognostication skills. I'm just pointing out that by picking the schedule, rather than assuming record by depth chart, you can eliminate the NFL schedule as a varible, and oh what a varible it can be.
