There's a Parcells-TO joke here. I just know there is. Let me ask you a question. Seems like Marion Barber is getting a lot of carries in the red zone this preseason. Is that to keep JJ fresh? Are they going to platoon them? Or is the first step toward phasing Jones out of there? I think that's your big X factor this year, the running game.

Why JJ has more burst, elusivness and speed, Marion has more toughness and can get the tougher yards that's why they are starting to use him in goaline and short yard situation.

Marion has improve a lot since last year and it's really pushing JJ for playing time but JJ it's still the starter I believe that they will share the carries but if JJ starts getting games like Carolina ans Seattle last year the amount off carries in that game would change

JJ scares me more than Barber. He hits the hole hard and runs downhill. Hate to admit it, but he's a stud runner who has gotten better every year. I think our D Line can contain him due to the fact that your O Line isn't what it used to be.

Re: What Happen to Your D

Ugh. Already wanting to think way too much into preseason stats. Griffin went down. Williams starts putting people on islands to see how they react. Also, it was yet another trick play in PRESEASON by a shitty team. I honestly think it almost surprises our guys that someone is flaming enough to run one then. Aside from that, the defense played fairly lights out. Lots of good pass D and fairly good run D, even after Griffin went down.

Way to come in and try to stir the pot. Just like was mentioned above, come back when the games matter.

I think our D will be fine, its the offense and teams that I am a little worried about.

Our thoughts? It was a bad game. The guys were not mentally in it because it was pre-season. Gibbs wants them more focused than they were, and he was pissed that they didn't put on a better show for the home crowd. At least it wasn't the end of the season playoff deciding game....

Re: What Happen to Your D

Hi guys, this is my first post, kinda feel stupid that it is responding to thread started by a dallas fan. However I feel the same way, everyone is making a big deal about these preseason games. While the injury situation is unfortunate, the actual losses don't really matter. The Colts currently are on an 8 game preseason losing streak. I don't hear people saying that their looking bad for the season. Also if you all remember in 1991 when the Skins won their last super bowl they went 0-4 in the preseason. Like some of you all were saying these games are for the coaches to guage what players will actually make the team. By the way is anyone else impressed with the play of Mike Espy, he has been a pleasant surprise. Being loaded at wide receiver hurts his chances but I hope he makes it. Anyways let me know what you all think.

Solid first post.

I'm not quite so much in the camp of "ah it's preseason, it doesn't matter." Preseason doesn't matter for the teams who manage to turn things around before the season starts. But if you're a team who gets overconfident and doesn't change the attitude, or can't pick up the system, or can't get healthy, or can't get timing down between QB and WR, then you're not going to turn things around before the season starts.

We're in a situation where something has to change for us to be able to look back on this preseason and say "see, that preseason we went 1-3, looked like crap, and still made the playoffs." If something doesn't change, we're going to look back and say that preseason was a harbinger of things to come.

We have to:

A) Figure out why we look so bad. Is it overconfidence, injuries, lack of motivation, not understanding the system, not having timing down between QB/WR, vanilla schemes, etc.

and

B) Fix it in a hurry. There should be a sense of urgency on the part of the coaching staff and the players to enact change. And we should not just simply assume it's going to happen.

The thing is we still have a few weeks, so there is time. It's not time to panic yet. But if we don't see some signs of improvement in the last two games, it's officially time to check our expectations for the season.

i was more impressed with JIMMY FARRIS, that guy never drops a pass thrown his way. i would like to see him make the team.

ESPY has been hot and cold, he dropped a few very catchable balls last game.

Re: What Happen to Your D

I WAS impressed until all the drops last game. He alone stalled some drives that could have given Campbell more reps and the Skins more points.
