Re: Name controversy

I sorta like the idea of being called the warriors, but not in the N.American tradition but rather the classic movie from the '70's about the gangs of NY.

Re: Name controversy

I think the Washington Cowboy Killaz has a nice ring to it.

Re: Name controversy

My step-grandfather, Joe Little Twig , played pro-football for the Oorang Indians team and the Rock Island Independents. Both teams had Jim Thorpe on their roster. This was in 1923 &1924. The family tells me he also played for the Canton Bulldogs (of this I can find no record).
As many may know, the Pro-Football Hall of Fame was established in Canton in honor of the Canton Bulldogs and Canton’s role in the league. Sorry I’m starting to ramble! Anyway, I said all that to say this-

My Aunt who is half Indian, as well as the rest of our family (which also includes Indian ancestory I’m told) are all Redskin fans. Never in my 52 years of life, did I ever hear any family member complain about the “Redskins” team name. My Aunt is one of the biggest fans!

If you want to find something to be offended about, you can. Unfortunatly some seem to find their “self-worth” in being offended.
There is a good article (except for the last line) at The Conservative Voice . Com that states in part-

According to a paper by Ives Goddard (senior linguist in the Department of Anthropology, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution), the term “redskin” was first coined by American Indian tribes and was not a derogatory term. It was instead used simply to distinguish between American Indians (“red skinned men”) and European settlers (“white skinned men”).

My Name is WAMO and I’m offended by Frisbees! See what I mean?
Hail to the REDSKINS!!!
