Re: What Happen to Your D
Quote:
I'm not quite so much in the camp of "ah it's preseason, it doesn't matter." Preseason doesn't matter for the teams who manage to turn things around before the season starts. But if you're a team who gets overconfident and doesn't change the attitude, or can't pick up the system, or can't get healthy, or can't get timing down between QB and WR, then you're not going to turn things around before the season starts. We're in a situation where something has to change for us to be able to look back on this preseason and say "see, that preseason we went 1-3, looked like crap, and still made the playoffs." If something doesn't change, we're going to look back and say that preseason was a harbinger of things to come. We have to: A) Figure out why we look so bad. Is it overconfidence, injuries, lack of motivation, not understanding the system, not having timing down between QB/WR, vanilla schemes, etc. and B) Fix it in a hurry. There should be a sense of urgency on the part of the coaching staff and the players to enact change. And we should not just simply assume it's going to happen. The thing is we still have a few weeks, so there is time. It's not time to panic yet. But if we don't see some signs of improvement in the last two games, it's officially time to check our expectations for the season.
