This is just one of the many reasons that my dad refuses to go to Skins games anymore, and he used to love them in person.
People at RFK knew how to cheer, they were smart fans. Now we have people who think they are at the opera. Crazy.

Re: Can't standup at FedEx?

screw that guy, that really sucks, on top of losing the damn thing. I have had some issues with that, and I only get up during a 3rd down for the defense.

I heard he crowd was really not in to it? is that the case.

You couldnt see the field while sitting in your seats? Your shouting and cheering can't be heard while sitting and not blocking other's view? I dont think wanting to see the game and not the guy in front of you's back is an unreasonable request, especially with how much the tickets cost.

Don't tell me you're advocating for sitting down and behaving at a football game.

I'm advocating cheering like hell without blocking others view of the action.

That would be nice in a perfect world.

That's like going to a concert and expecting people to sit down in front of you.

Ahh, you should have called me! I was thoroughly boozed up and almost got into a real one with an Eagles fan in the bathroom.

What an idiot. He's too lazy to stand up to see the game? In my section, everyone was standing up and screaming when the defense was on the field. He needs to get with the times or go home.

Re: Can't standup at FedEx?

Gloon,

First of all, you assume everyone that goes to a game and isn't a season ticket holder is drunk. I've gotten tickets every time I can get my hands on some and this is the first time I've ever had something to drink before the game, that said I stood up less this game than in all the other ones.

Secondly, I checked the people behind me, and they weren't elderly. If you're tired, go home and take a nap, you have a much better view from home if seeing is your deal. The game is all about the ambiance of the game. They players are telling people to stand up and be loud, the jumbotron constantly shows signs saying to stand up and be loud. I paid the same price, probably MORE for my tickets than that guy, and so I can enjoy the game how I like.

If you aren't excited about your team and don't want to cheer, go home. There are plenty of real fans out there that would love to go in your place. This douche didn't even clap or scream the whole time.

Re: Can't standup at FedEx?

The majority of the opposing fans who go to the games probably get their tickets through season ticket holders who don't care enough to go to every game.

I can understand getting mad at people who stand up when the Skins have the ball or when someone gets hurt or something like that. I also get mad when the people around me constantly get up and down when the Skins are about to run a play, but I say you should be on your feet screaming when the other team has the ball. Chicago didn't have all those false starts last year because Washington fans were sitting in their seats clapping like they were at a child's class play.

And going back to the thing about actually getting season tickets: you're right; I should have signed up for the waiting list when I was 4 years old. I must be a terrible fan.

I was at that Chicago game last year and it was unbelievable how much the crowd was into the game and how loud FedEX was. I watched last night's game on tv, and it just did not seem loud enough at all. How was the stadium compared to last year's opener? Did tv just not do it justice, or was the place not rockin?

Re: Can't standup at FedEx?

Not only should people not be standing up at the games, if our fans get too loud I think that's bush league, and the referees should charge us a 15 yard penalty for delay of game (big ups to my man Norm Soloman).

Saracasm!

I just cant believe anyone who argues that people shouldnt stand up at a football game WHENEVER they want, while also claiming to be a fan of live football. That is one of the things that makes football so much better than any other sport, the noise, the enthusiasm, the shaking rattling grandstands. If the person behind you is in a wheelchair with a respirator sit down, but if its some whining corporate attourney from Alexandria I say tell him to piss off. Seriously, what do you think would happen in Philadelphia if you asked the guy in front of you to sit down? What would happen in Kansas City? In Lambeau? With fans as amazing as ours there is no reason we shouldnt have an environment as intimidating as the aforementioned. Instead what we have is a big loud Disneyland for wealthy lawyers and businessmen.

Re: Can't standup at FedEx?

I was a few rows behind the Skins bench and I thought it was plenty loud on every Vikings' third down, and most 2nd and longs.

What makes it hard to keep up the noise is when the other team converts 50% of their 3rd and longs. One friggin sack or int or batted down ball would have stoked the crowd like crazy.

I've been in the nosebleeds, too, and you just don't feel the intensity of the lower deck. That's one of the many problems with FedX.

p.s. -- the people in front of me were standing much of the game.....snapping pictures of Tom Cruise.
