SBF Is On "Vacation"

I think it's a fitting tribute to SBF's official ban thread that there were like six pages of honest, heartfelt dialogue about his ban, how much we like him, we hope he'll come back, he's a great guy... and then seven hijacked pages of 'scat'.

Seriously though, I do think SBF is a great guy, I think he contributes tremendously to the 'communal' appeal of this place, and I really hope he comes back. It would be a damned shame to lose a devoted Redskins fan and longtime Warpath member like him.

But I very much support the ban, and I would expect the mods to do no less to me if I were to behave in a manner that warranted it. In this case, I think SBF's actions did warrant a temporary ban, if for no other reason than I think SBF needed to just get away from the site for a while and cool down a bit. That's really the purpose of temporary bans, moreso than as some kind of symbolic punitive act.

Really, though, I think it's done with IP addresses. However, SBF isn't a spammer (by any stretch of the imagination) who is going to just create a new account to avoid a 2 week ban. He's going to sit it out, and then come back at some point down the road when he feels good and ready to.

I don't know if you would have to be a loser, maybe somebody who's just really pissed and felt they got the shaft. If they don't care enough to get banned, maybe they don't care enough to screw around and raise hell.

SBF and i used to have heated battles around election time. he was quick with the Kerry/Gay jokes. politically correct he certainly wasn't. i know he would've liked reading that.

man, i seem to miss all the drama :/

usually i just move on to the next thread once the old one's e-angst threshold has been surpassed. I do think that some mods can pile on a bit more than necessary (sometimes its a joke, other times though, it's a purposeful dig).

thicker skin, more patience, a better world for our children, blah blah blah.
