Re: Feelings on Adam Archuleta can he cover his own shadow?

AA leads the team in solo tackles with 42
the next in line is ST with 34

WHY DO THE SAFETIES HAVE TO MAKE ALL THE TACKLES
IF AA DIDN'T HAVE TO MAKE ALL THE TACKLES ON THE RUN GAME MAYBEE HE COULD COVER SOMEONE!

That's the crazy world of Greg Williams. Corners blitzing, Defensive ends playing zone coverage, Lemar Marshall singled up with the other teams best WR. Every player has to play every position (almost). A.A. is probably used to hanging back on passing downs but now they have him running all over the field. Clark and Pray-Low had no trouble picking it up, though.

The guy just doesn't fit the williams scheme, too much man coverage for arch, doesn't seem like it's gonna work out. If he can't keep up with a tight end, how is he gonna keep up with reggie brown?????

Re: Feelings on Adam Archuleta can he cover his own shadow?

GW knows AA can't cover and that's evident by him not playing much in the 2nd half. We all know that if someone can't play no matter what he is getting paid that someone will not see the field much (i.e LA). So i trust GW on this one.

And its really not AA's fault. You're gonna turn down 30mill, or whatever it was? Let the front office take the blame for this.

I think the plan all along was to have Prioleau play primarily in passing situations and AA would be used more in running situations where he could do what he does well, which is play close to the line of scrimmage.

I think you're right. From Williams quote in today's Wash Post it almost seems like Prioleau was going to be starting, or at least playing major minutes, before he got hurt. But when he got hurt it drastically altered their plans

"We need to put players in the best situations for them and Adam needs to be around the box more, and we finally have the personnel situation where I can get him around the box more," Williams said. "We blitzed several times and he was close to getting there. And we'll continue to do that. He's like that hybrid safety, hybrid linebacker and we're going to get him around the line of scrimmage as much as we can."

Re: Feelings on Adam Archuleta can he cover his own shadow?

Archuleta was given the largest contract in NFL history for a safety not to just play on running downs.

I think he is a poor fit for the system right now; not sure if it is the system itself, his learning curve, or what factors exactly. Probably he could be a good player if used in a way to bring out his abilities.

It was sad that Ryan Clark was let go because when he left, Taylor lost a needed mentor and friend, and so it was somewhat like losing Taylor too. At least Taylor's maturity as a player is being accelerated probably. And now that we have Troy Vincent, we have a still talented player with sterling leadership. So, things are on the upswing again.

I just hope that if he's gonna blitz, that he works on disguising it more. Plus he usually doesn't time the snap well.
Let's hope he forces a fumble or something that we can give him props for!

I hate Archuleta desperately. He reminds me of Matt Stevens.

Re: Feelings on Adam Archuleta can he cover his own shadow?

I have to believe that Archulleta problem is the system and not his ability. Something is not right with how they are playing him. He is not slow, he has good speed for a saftey. I was at the game and I tried to watch him as best I could and what I thought was that he was playing to close to the line. It was fine if he was blitzing, but going into coverage from there just does not work for him. I watched the same thing happen to Vincent yesturday, on th TO dropp. I also saw it happen to Reed Doughty on several ocassions. I know he is a rookie, but my point is this, in all my years of watching football I have never seen saftey get beat as much as ours have. That includes Taylor.

B-Mitch on 980 just said that whoever is responsible for bringing AA to DC should lose their job.

He (AA) needs to just stay on the sideline next to GW during games.

Fully agree.
