Cutting Archuleta & The Salary Cap
Great post from Jason LaCanfora on the WP's blog. Looks like Arch is going to be with us for quite some time.

Re: Cutting Archuleta & The Salary Cap
well...maybe if the rest of the D didn't suck so bad, and the offense could put up points, he wouldn't be such a glaring weakness...its unfortunate that we have to pay him, but maybe we can start to figure out ways to use him to his strengths...ie, cleaning jerseys, mopping, lifting heavy rocks and such

Re: Cutting Archuleta & The Salary Cap
no surprise there, i mean, you give a guy 10$mill in guarantees, and he's going to end up with at least 10$mill before he leaves.

The uzbeks are liars and cheats, they not keep him unless you send them 20 gallons fermented horse urine and 40 pounds of pubis.

Re: Cutting Archuleta & The Salary Cap
I'm still hoping that our "genius" coaching staff figures out a way to utilize the skills of this player which Lovie Smith wanted really bad for the Bears. He has something to offer, we just have to get it out of him.

Re: Cutting Archuleta & The Salary Cap
because of lavar giving money back, the new cba contains rules to prevent that from happening in the future (oh yeah, and they suspended lavar's agent for an entire year for doing that too). so that's a no-go.
If he gets kidnapped or killed, i believe we're still on the books for the guaranteed money, so the uzbeks really can't help us there . |

Re: Cutting Archuleta & The Salary Cap
I don't think he is too happy here playing in this defense. So perhaps we can work someting out with Chicago and get him outta here. But then that would probably mean leaving Arch leaving $ on the table and that's not going to happen.

Re: Cutting Archuleta & The Salary Cap
we are stuck with that bum. he needs to play linebacker. doesnt have the speed for coverage. everytime he comes in the game he is going to be thrown at unless he blitzs. thanks for the great contract structure...dont know who to think first the danny or gibbs?

Re: Cutting Archuleta & The Salary Cap
well actually there is maybe something we can do...we did eat all of LC's money when we traded him. maybe shop a trade and take the loss to unload him. Troy vincent who has been here what a month has taken AA's job? how much clearer does it have to be???

Re: Cutting Archuleta & The Salary Cap
if we ever did manage to bring in or develop a shut-down corner he'd probably be of greater value. maybe once ST gets a little better in coverage...
dont get me wrong ST is great but he still has the occasional lapse. anyways if one or both of those things happen maybe he can get back out there. oh, he could also work on his coverage skills. hell if i were the highest paid safety benched in place of some old vet, i would def start working double time to get with the program. |
