no not, roy "burnt" williams. I'm talking about rookie of the year. People are saying colston, bush or jones-drew.

My pick is Vince Young. You can say he still throws ugly or that none of his wins are pretty... but facts are facts... he's a winner. Who the hell does he have on his offense? Travis Henry is decent. Drew Bennett? Brandon Jones? Bo Scaife?

I don't care that he just beat the Texans. he's a rookie playing the toughest position in the pros. he's led his squad to four straight wins and he's nearly beaten the entire NFC east (save for dallas). his OT play to win today was insane, but it brought up bad memories of the rose bowl.

the titans were suppose to be a lock for a top 3 pick this season... after a rough start, they're only a game under .500. let's be honest... they'd be a lot worse w/o young.

Re: Roy

I understand what you are saying about V. Young. Yeah, he has ben good in these past games. I do think that he will be a very good QB in the NFL, esp. if the Titans get a ligit #1 WR for him.

With that being said, when V. Young was drafted, he was picked #3 overall in the draft so people knew or atleast they expected him to be good. The same can be said about Bush. And some could make a case for Jones-Drew. But no one expected the 252 pick, the forth to last pick in the draft out of the NFL MACHINE that is HOFSTRA to explode into the NFL the way he did. Most expect players picked in the 7th round to either not make the team or be a work in progress.

Again I am surprised at how well Young adapted to the NFL, but lets face it a small percentage really thought that Young may be a bust. Where as a large percentage would not be surprised if a player picked in the 7th round turned out to be a bust...

I was thinking Colston at first. However, you can't discount Young, and the importance of the QB position. Young has performed really well, and he's doing it at a position which magnifies mistakes.

Re: Roy

Bush is going to get some votes too. He's putting up some big receiving numbers and his positive impact on that offense can't be denied.

Re: Roy

I agree about Bush and Young, but they were expected to do good, where as Colston was really a no name. Yet for most of the year he either led or was in the top 5 WR's. Again this is from a 7th round pick, not a 1st or 2nd round pick. I mean Bush 2nd overall, Young 3rd overall, Colston 252nd overall....

Re: Roy

Colston is a feel-good pick for all the underdog reasons, but I'd argue that the way Henderson and Copper replaced him when he was out is evidence that it's more about Brees' arm than Colston's skill. There's no doubt he's good, certainly really good considering that draft position, but it's not like they've missed him when he was on the shelf.

Re: Roy

But it's not "best value of the year" or "most unexpected player of the year" - it's just the best player, regardless of where he was picked. I agree that Colston is the biggest surprise. However, I think Bush probably has to get the nod. He has more receptions and all-purpose yards than anyone on the team (#2 overall receptions in the league) and is second in touchdowns on a potent offense. That's hard to overlook.

Young could make a claim based on the last 3-4 games where he has carried the team. I'm not sure that is enough to erase his shaky start, though.

Re: Roy

Titans are my second favorite team, so I'm happy to see Vince Young play well. Tell you what though, the rookie who's been flying under the radar is Maurice Jones-Drew out of Jacksonville. His numbers are pretty comparable to Bush's.

Re: Roy

I'd really have to vote for Colston. He's going to have over 1000 yards and that's WITH missing 3 weeks.

He, by FAR, exceeded expectations more than anyone...Jones-Drew second to him.

Re: Roy

jones drew is unstoppable, he has the perfect running back build, he can't be tackled, and with that speeed, lookout fred taylor. I'd still have to give the nod to colston for his numbers

Re: Roy

Vince Young has been playing some of the best football in the league in cruchtime this year. It's been amazing. That td run yesterday looked a whole lot like Vick against the Vikes a few years back. Very reminiscent. I like the way he plays and he's a better passer than Vick although I don't know if he'll have much better passing numbers than Vick does. Young at least has the advantage of receivers who can catch the ball though.
