So how do you post those pictures without them being a web address? I wanted to post some of those pictures but couldn't.

If you just post the URL, it will turn into a link:
http://www.thewarpath.net/images/avatars/06Av_JoeyT.jpg

However, if you wrap it in IMG tags, it will display the image. The yellow button with the mountain on it is the IMG button:
