Well I hope the courts do a good job and that appropriate justice is served. I'm not sure it is appropriate for anyone to have a strong opinion either way on this given the evidence that is available to us via the media.

Their troubles are far from over, but, given the paucity of evidence and the now highly questionable testimonial evidence of the stripper (i.e., she has changed her story so many times that she would get burned alive on the stand), this case will either get dropped or plead out to much lesser charges.

Re: Duke rape charges dropped.

i look at this a different way. the poor girl with crappy lawyers. and the rich kids from duke with the best money can buy. the girl is barely educated, while the dookies are going to one of the best schools money can buy. to me its not about black or white, its about rich vs. poor

You said she was barely educated. He pointed out that she was in college. I think that's what it means.

Re: Duke rape charges dropped.

This is a criminal case - she doesn't have "lawyers", she has the prosecution. Even if she has a lawyer representing her, even the ass-crappiest attorney should be able to tell her to tell the truth, or at least to come clean if there are some things she can't remember.

Re: Duke rape charges dropped.

we all know the criminal case is the first step towards a civil case, and show me the money. she has probably had lawyers calling her from day one. im just saying it seems like everyone believes the duke players without knowing all the facts. yes, she is a stripper, but no still means no

Because the only facts that have been reported have been exculpatory. The only reported evidence indicating guilt has been her story, which is obviously dubious at best. Of course there could be other evidence that the prosecution has but in a case this publicised I'd i,magine any bombshell stuff would come out since this DA is getting buried all over the place and he doesn't seem to be one to hold back. This thing looks and feels like a total sham to me.

Re: Duke rape charges dropped.

OK, but if she has lawyers beating down her door, doesn't that undermine the "rich v. poor" argument?

Nifong has been on the warpath (no pun intended) since day 1. She has had as zealous an advocate in these proceedings as is possible. Now even he is saying that there simply is not sufficient evidence to make a case against these boys. I don't think it would matter if she had all the money in the world - there is apparently no physical evidence, and the lone witness isn't sure what happened.

Didn't Dan Quayle, and George W. Bush attend college. That says a lot about your analogy.

Re: Duke rape charges dropped.

N.C. bar files charges against Duke D.A. - Yahoo! News

I doubt this will convince you of anything, but it's hard to argue that this is the poor getting shafted by the legal system. Nifong won't get disbarred, but he will probably get a disciplinary warning of some sort (I don't know what the procedures are in NC). He was determined from day 1 to nail the lacrosse players, despite having only a shaky case at best.
