The more I think about it & read what’s been reported about our cap situation, I don’t see us being in position even to sign Clements. Of course there’s always the restructuring of contracts that we do every year, and maybe they’ll have them all done by March 1 when fa opens, but I’m feeling that Gibbs has learned his lesson w/the big signings.
That said, if Clements were the ONLY fa signed it could work out so long as we don’t break the bank & further alienate our vets.
If we can’t sign Clements, which is the likely scenario, I’d like to see us scan the waiver wire post June 1, we might pick up a solid nickel back to replace Wright. Maybe Fred Smoot (I know, there’s already been a couple threads on this!)?
DE seems the highest priority to me in the draft.
