If Portis becomes more patient and watch a lot more tape of faulk, holmes, and johnson he would become the best running back in the league hands down. I really believe Al Saunders knows what he is doing. Jos Gibbs need to let Saunders call all of the plays or just let him go and take over himself. I really believe Gibbs wants the same offense he saw in Kansas City and eventually will let Saunders bring in the personnel to do it.

Its always good for a running back to blame the ones who are opening up the holes for them. Betts didn't seem to have any problems. Are you sure he was not talking about last year because I thought Doc had lost weight and was moving with better balance this year.

I'm not a fan of dockery. the guy is strong, but he is not mobile at all. Hell I'd probably move him to DT if I were coaching the team.

He has alot of penalties, and it seems like everytime there's a trip up in the backfield its his feet colliding with someone else's. Pass protection is good for him and straight ahead running he does okay, but as strong as this guy is he's extremely inconsisntant.

Dock is just a road grader. If he asks for too much let him walk. I would prefer someone who is more nimble in the pulling game. You can't play smashmouth with everyone.

If you recall in the interview with Portis he said he's going to let it known he wants to run (or have called for him ) the same type plays that were called for Betts during his streak. He prefers what's considered "downhill running" or between the tackles. Straight ahead blocking is Dockery's strength, they recognize the fact he's not a pulling guard, and I think they will get him resigned.

I hope we keep Doc.The O-Line was not the problem. Our D-line was the maun thing wrong with our team this year.

And patience is the key to the counter plays when you have to wait for your pulling O-linemen to engage defenders. Portis would do well to watch film for how effectively Betts sets up blockers. That said, Portis has to be your #1 - he's a threat to go to the house if you can get him to the second level.

Portis has had a pretty good career so far, if as you suggest, he isn't a patient runner. Portis wasn't right at all this season after hurting that shoulder, he'll hopefully be healthy again next season, and then we'll get a real clear idea how he fits the Saunders scheme. As good as Betts was, I would still take Portis as my starter any day of the week.

Unfortunately in that E. Albright article there was a blurb stating that Dock and the team where nowhere close to an agreement. Anyone know who Dock's agent is? Please tell me it's not one of the Postons.
