I sent a DVD of this to Len Shapiro, who makes the case for Monk each year with the HOF voters. He was aware that I was making this and was looking forward to seeing it. He probably got it yesterday, but I have yet to hear from him. I'm hoping he gives me the go-ahead to send physical DVDs to all the HOF voters. Since it's about 20 minutes long, I think it MAY be too long for him to show in its entirety for his presentation, so it'd be good if the voters could watch it BEFORE they go in to vote.

I made the vow last year that if Monk got snubbed again I would do this. I've collected a lot of games over the years, and I knew I had the footage. So, over the past year, I went through about 150 games in my spare time, grabbing any footage I thought was relevant and any comments about Monk. Then I had to whittle it all down. It was a labor of love, that's for sure, and I'm glad you guys have enjoyed it."

I'd say send the link to everyone you can, because we don't have too long before the vote (February 4). All I ask is that you hold off FOR NOW deluging the voters with the link. I just want to hear from Shapiro first and see what he thinks. Hopefully I'll hear from him this weekend.

I'm a long time reader of the warpath, but first time respondant, and I could think of no better way than to introduce myself by saying that it is nothing short of a crime that Monk has not been elected to Canton yet. Too much NY media influence, but he'll get there eventually.

Tom (the video creator) finally got a response from Len Shapiro. He said Len didn't say anything about the video itself. Tom then asked Len if he should send the video out to the voters and Len said, "Trust me, fan emails have been a huge turnoff. Just let us do the best we can and I suspect this could be the year."

Interesting... I hope Len is right.

I tend to believe Len is right, about fan emails being a huge turn off. A few voters have already come out and called us "whiners."

I have no doubts that Monk will make it into the Hall of Fame. I know that he should already be in but it is hard for players like him and John Stallworth, who it also took a while to make it in, to be voted in because they were not the flamboyant types. But, with his generation of players and fans around the nation knowing that he has been shafted for all of these years, when he is finally inducted you best believe that it is going to be something very special.

That video brought me to tears. I remember watching the Skins with my dad and I always liked Monk. I used to go in the backyard and mimick his routes with my dad throwing me the ball. I was so pressed to make catches and tap my toes like he did. I told my wife that when he's inducted I'm going, there are about 4 guys from my job that I know of that are going. Looking at the clips I thought back to the times I spent with my dad watching those games, The Denver Super Bowl was the first one I watched by myself and it's really hard for me now as a 29 year old man to think about those times without crying or doing my best to hold tears back. My only regret is that I will not physically have my dad with me at the induction but he'll surely be in my heart.

This is going to be a great day ladies and gentelmen, the ovation will be the longest ever I hope.

It's a huge file 170.8MB and download speed is slow. If you right click on link and save target you will see download progress and it will take over an hour to download. It's worth the wait!!!
