Preferably in open space. Who doesn't like to see a lineman making moves downfield on DBs?

Actually this brings me back to a point I've been on for quite awhile now: We need a blocking-style TE bad. A guy who blocks like a lineman but can catch a pass every now and then also. Pucillo was fine, but theres only so many different plays you can call with him in the game at TE. Not to mention theres a chance he will be starting at G next year.

Daniel Grahan is available and I think he would fill this role nicely.

Daniel Graham would be wonderful, but I'm sure we can easily find somebody to fit the role cheaper.

A Graham signing almost mandates that we move to a 2 TE offense. Not that that would be a bad thing.

I think it would be a good thing. Graham can be a stud.

I also love the 2 TE offense and think that would be a far smarter way to get another strong receiving weapon than using a pick on Calvin Johnson, or signing a bigger receiver.

Graham would be a huge luxury, and I really don't see him landing here. I think it would be a good move for us though.

Dunn would come much cheaper, and although Graham would be the better player, Dunn would fit better into the current 1 TE offense we run now.

We can easily replace Dockery, and here's how. Draft Ted Ginn! Trade up if you have to. He's a phenomenal athlete. Let him play OG. He was the top ranked offensive lineman in his 8 and under Pop Warner league

You mean like Ron Middleton? I think he caught something like 5-10 passes a year. His roster weight was 270 (probably a bit off) so he was like a miniature offensive tackle.

The only thing is, that's not usually an element of Al Saunders' offense. Pucillo was brought in in the 'Jumbo' formations, but that's got Gibbs' fingerprints all over it.

Saunders' offense, along with Norv Turner's and Mike Martz are more true to the Air Coryell original -- the tight end has more of the pass catching role, while the fullback does most of the blocking. It was Gibbs who did most of the tinkering with his mentor's scheme. That's not to say the tight ends don't block. And it doesn't rule out that there could be yet another alteration to Saunders' game plan as long as Gibbs is looking over his shoulder.

I'd agree that a pure blocking tight end might be useful, as long as it doesn't throw too big of a wrench into an offense young players are still trying to learn.

Well it's not like we would be retarding the devolpment of a young TE. Jason Dunn played the no. 2 TE role in KC for many years under Saunders with great success. The difference was, he was retarding the development of Kris Wilson, who they used a 2nd rounder on in 2004 (he now starts at their H Back position). In fact, I think we should trade for Dunn, if he can be had for a conditional pick (no higher than round 6).

Dunn would be an AWESOME addition to the team. He's definately the blocking-stud we've been looking for.
