As if animalistic behavior is limited only to the male of the species? Please, women can be just as sad and pathetic in these types of situations. Sounds to me from the article, neither of these people were particularly emotionally well developed.

I am not defending his actions just saying that it seems you are implicitly asserting no woman would act in a similar manner. FYI (and hoping it isn't TMI) - I have personal knowledge, involving feces, that, yes, women can be just as disgusting.
