I loved the homage to the old school and the anime scene with this one. One of my favorite popcorn flicks in the past couple years.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

The Wolf of Wall Street was a good movie, I'm hesitant to call it great because the ending is kinda flat (although if you've read the book it basically follows the ending of the book) but other than that I enjoyed it.

Anchorman 2, well I wish I had stayed home from that. I still love the original, and I knew the previews didn't look that good but me and fam went and saw it anyways. It's disappointing. I'm sure it's really hard for directors to capture the magic that made the first movie what it was, but I suspect in a few months I'll have erased this movie from my memory.

Went to see a double feature-

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty-9/10 Got to love Ben Stiller! Different role for him!
Grudge Match-8/10 Kevin Hart was a little annoying and funny at the same time.

have you seen ben stiller's movie called Goldberg? I am imagining he plays a role similar to that in mitty and i want to check it out. kinda awkward dark comedy

it took us about a week to get through the Benjamin Button movie and the first 30 mins or so were cool, unique idea but man that movie ultimately sucked.

Guardians of the Galaxy. Hands down the best movie of the year and the best movie Marvel has put out to date. It was simply incredible. You'll regret not seeing this. Even has pulled a 96% fresh rating off of RT.

Where would you rank it compared to other comic book movies? I've heard some people say it is better than the Dark Knight.

Better than any of the other comic book movies sans The Dark Knight perhaps. Comparing the two is really hard because one is so dramatic/intense while the other one is loose and fun with incredible characters. James Gunn absolutely knocked it out of the park with the casting and characters brought to life. The theater cheered afterwards because those guys were so entertaining.

I'll say this, a tree and a raccoon are my new favorite heros. Those guys fucking owned.

Another bonus treat is the sound track. I'll most likely be going back for a second viewing this weekend.

Went to see Her and loved it. If you're a tech nerd, you'll love it. Moving and very thought provoking. Also hilarious in some parts.

Plus, who doesn't want to listen to Scarlett Johansson having an O? That made it worth it all alone.

Watched wolf of wall street last nite - good movie but not great. Jonah Hill's character was hysterical though.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

Been watching a few recent movies lately, caught Lone Survivor the other day and I thought it was good but not great. I'm sure they trimmed some good parts out but I definitely enjoyed the book more. Also just finished Twelve Years a Slave, definitely enjoyed that and highly recommend it to anyone interested in historical films.

Saw the movie Francis Ha recently, amazing amazing amazing writing.

Great movie, but damn it, it made me miss my 20s. Really great story about class, hipster generation, etc. Great dialogue.

Saw Blue Jasmine too, really good typical woody allen
