Mortenson on ESPN said the the niners offered Garcia a pretty big deal (5 miil a year?), but he turned it down because the niners are "imploding".
Screw em. They were the last team to beat Gibbs.

The Niners are a team that we rarely play but always seem to have our number. Gibbs will have the chance for payback this season. The 49ers on our schedule at San Fran. |

The 49ers are an organization in trouble. They are being run by a guy who squeezes nickels so tightly that the buffalo drops his chips. For some reason, John York seems to be emulating the Mike Brown (Bengals) model of NFL ownership.
There is a happy medium between overspending on players and not spending money on anything. This guy is at the "not spend money" end of the rope. There was a story in the SF Chronicle that he makes the assistant coaches share hotel rooms on road trips and charges coaches for personal telephone calls they make. Obviously, I don't know if that is correct, but that's really petty stuff. I have more than a few critical things to say about Danny Boy from time to time, but he would never do something that detrimental to the organization as an "employer of choice".
