German Sheppards are amazing dogs. They have a truely loving heart, and they are VERY intelligent. Add to that they can be a great watch dog, and that makes a great dog.
I didn't want a "watch dog", I wanted lazy easily maintainable dogs, so I have bassets. But if I didn't have a gun and a security system, I would have gotten a German Sheppard.
I also like Rottwielers, but often times they go off on people in uniforms and random things, and while they love their family to death, sometimes it's hard to have visitors with them.

ps- I say get the gun anyway. What is her main argument to not have one?

I could never do that. It takes too much patience. I have two neighbors that are sheriffs, and they have tried to recruit me...hell no. If someone shot at me, or spit at me (happens a lot) I'd get so mad that I'd shoot them!

LOL...so if you did a routine pull over (if you were a cop) and someone started calling you names and spit at you...would you just sit there and take it? As a cop, you need to. As a human, I know I couldn't / wouldn't.
If someone shot at me, I would take that as someone trying to kill me. I would hunt them down.

f...ing long day. I am an intern in the accounting dept and there is an auditor here. I'm hungry and haven't gone out to eat. I have multiple bosses and i don't want to leave to eat and someone think i left an hour and a half early. So i'm going to sit here and starve.
