at the end of the application filling process, its the last thing they ask if i remember correctly - gender, race.

i also believe (after a good year or so of applying for fed jobs and being highly qualified) that you will not get hired unless you are a minority, disabled or military vet.

I seriously doubt if it ask if you are heterosexual or homosexual.

The GOVT looks for over qualified candidates to hire. So if you are serious about a GOVT job best to look for a job a rung or two below your experience to get your foot in then move up once you are in.

GOVT jobs are not that great anymore anyways you have just as much or even more security in the private industry.

Nope. I'm a double minority and as a black female with a college education, I can vouch that, yeah, no, the minority thing doesn't seem to work anymore.

I've been told by a friend that works an NIH, that they go straight for people that "know someone", after that its military, after that it's a free for all.

If you're not aware of the Government's attempt to artificially create "diversity" even at the expense of work quality...I don't know what else to say. It's been doing on forever but it's worse now than ever.

F&*k Flying. Went to Disney a few weeks back and our flight from Va to Disney took 13 hours. Delay after delay after delay. I could have driven as fast as it took us to fly. Finally in Charlotte NC while on delay I started drinking to numb my mind. Not sure why the wife couldn't find a direct flight to Disney like some other I know.

Traveling in the summer can be rough, especially without a non-stop flight.

You're lucky you're not in DC, I've seen it over $4 in the more affluent parts of the city. i.e. The Watergate Exxon station was notoriously expensive, close to $5 a gallon.

Last I paid was $3.65.
