Dude why wld we want to trade Taylor?? If, and that is BIG IF LL and ST develops into one of best and possibly best of all safety tandem.. Then I don't think we would have much of problem for defense, as Gregg said that they re going to use LL as run stopper and obviously will be used for blitzing more since he wld be closer to the line and ST being ball-hawking.. If those plans work out smoothly.. Then pls can u tell me, what wld be better than that??

Yes, you are!

And I hope you don't!

I've wondered whether LL might be getting too much, but I'm not the capologist.

Wouldn't it be smarter to have two great CB's, DE's, WR's, etc... vs. the safety position? I still can't believe we drafted this guy instead of a D-Lineman. I think it'll set our franchise back years. When we DID draft him, I was positive that Gibbs had a veteran DE in the works - but so far nothing.

WTF are we thinking? Am I the only one nervous about this move?

Ok - that said, I want to be optimistic about this season - so I won't bring it up again...
See, I kind of disagree with you here. I don't think, specifically in GW's defense, that safeties are a lesser important position.

He thrives off of the safeties blitzing, and dies by the safeties not being able to cover the pass. Look what happened last year with AA. If you read an article not too long ago about how offenses have begun to figure out the cover-2, it implies GW has to do something to correct it... ie, draft a safety.

A huge problem was safeties becoming baited into the run, and getting burned on the PA. (Williams: Offenses Have Uncovered the Cover-2 - washingtonpost.com)

I think this is a good signing, and a good draft pick given the options we had. I would have preferred a DE, but at the 6 spot, he was clearly the best choice.

Well, going off of what was posted here, 22 million of the contract is incentive laced...last I checked incentive money doesn't count towards the cap. So the salary is cheap for a player of his alleged caliber.

no way you put thought into what you said. first of all safety might be one of if not the most important position on a defense, esspecially in todays game where passing is so stressed.....they call the coverages every play much like oline men do when you see them pointing and talking. another thing they add is the style in which the guys in front of them can play much more aggressive. but i am not gonna sit here and argue about why safety is important cause there are hundreds esspecially in todays style game. but see you can say the same things about every position.......hey we only need on good pass rushing end and the other a run stopper why paying them both....corners we only need one shutdown corner and another corner who can just get by. all of it is false you put the best players on the field that you can and it doesnt matter position...thats why we didnt draft dline cause landry was a better player than the dlineman available......dont jump on the media bandwagon usually its wrong.

Says Jsarno before Landry ever plays a snap...

I love Landry, just scary with rookies because you never quite know.

Well, at the moment it's just on paper...we all thought this time last year that we had the best safety tandem ever, we all see how that turned out.
So I'm not buying the hype until they produce.

AW come on. You mean to tell me that you are not going to buy into the whole Area 51 thing? It's cute just like the Steelers rediculous "Terrible Towell". It's magically horendous.

NOPE...not yet anyway.
Maybe they will develope into it, but as of now, they are nothing.
With all the question marks this team has this year, this question mark should be the easiest to answer. I really think they will do well, but you never know. Taylor needs to do a better job of being a team player.

I am sold on Taylor already and there is nothing that anyone else can say or do other than Taylor that will change that. As far as LL is concerned, I agree with you, he needs to prove himself.

Re: ESPN: LaRon Landry signs!!!!

Assuming we re-sign Taylor (which we better, there's been too much invested by the staff not to), we'll have a lot of cap space devoted to the safety position. I think the strategy of the f.o. is to start building through the draft more & relying upon cheap young talent to replace the vets on the d-line.
I'm not saying that they won't sign any big free agents in the next few years, but I think they'll start to look to the draft next year & after to rebuild the o & d lines, both of which are old.
I'm guessing that they're not concerned that so much will go to the safety position, rather they need to spread the wealth to both sides of the ball. There's been a lot more guaranteed $ on the O side of the ball for a few years.
