Neither team has much defensively. It really comes down the the Quarterback play, and the schedule. Schaub is no rookie, he's a 4th year guy. Even adjusting for schedule and running game, theres absoultely no way Joey Harrington can be three wins better than Schaub. 7-9 for Houston, 4 or 5 wins for Atlanta. Both teams could be better if either develops a defense. |

Houston was 28th in the league in Offense in 06, ATL was 12th. This despite the fact that ATL was DEAD LAST in passing (because Mike Vick passes about as well as he bets on dogs.) The running game is going to fall off a bit because of Vick's absence, but in his place they have Dunn and Norwood. And they still have that Oline. Harrington is NOT the savior but imho he's a much better passer than vick was. Add to that the fact that they're bringing in Petrino at coach who will be very imaginative in his game planning. On the other hand...Kubiak is a run first coach, and his starting tailback is Ahman Green who's best days are, again imho, looong behind him. That houston O-line doesn't scare anyone. If they're win, it's going to be Schaub to Andre Johnson and I don't think that's enough to account for a weak running game unless Kubiak drastically changes his style. On defense, Houston was ranked 24th overall, ATL was only marginally better at 22nd. Atlanta was alot better at stopping the run while Houston was superior in passing d. HOU upgraded their dline by drafting Okoye at DT which could conceivably improve their rushing d while ATL drafted Jammaal Anderson at DE and Chris Houston at CB to improve their passing d. I could see the Texans having the better D overall this year. But not by much. In the NFC South, the Falcons face Carolina, Tampa Bay and New Orleans. I think TB is going to suck this year, Carolina and NO are big question marks. I see them going 4-4 in their division. In the AFC South, the Texans have Indy, Jacksonville and Tennessee. I don't see them doing any better than 3-5 in division. Out of division, Falcons have Minnesota, jacksonville, houston, tennessee, NYG, Indy, St louis, Arizona, seattle and san fran. I see maybe 4-5 wins there (AZ, NYG, HOU, MN and maybe TN) For their out of div sched, Texans face Carolina, KC, ATL, MIA, SD, OAK, CLV, TB, Denver and New Orleans. I can see them with 3-4 wins (MIA, OAK, CLV and mabye TB.) So, that's how I get ATL at 8-8 or 9-7, HOU at 6-10. I guess I came your way a bit on Hou's record...
