For the life of me, I don't know how you would consider Portis a bust.

Yeah Portis is a bust... All he did was set the frachises single season rushing record, (1315) and most 100 yard games (9) record his first season here (which was at that point in his career the LEAST amount of yard he had gained in a season) And sure we rode him into the playoffs in 05 but those 5 consecutive 100 yard games to get us there was an abberation. Yup hes a bust all right....

Bailey didn't want to play here? Who says? Money talks and if the money was right he'd still be a Skin today. Instead, we have lost a Hall of Fame corner back to bookend Darrell Green and are down a high draft pick whose impact we would will never know and have a mediocre running back whose only real highlite was his first carry as a Skin...an 80 yard skamper to the end zone. After that? In the mean time Phillip Rivers and Trent Green were terrified of throwing the ball anywhere near Champ. Let us face facts...Portis is jovial and fun while Champ is stuck on himself...but Champ is going to the Hall and Portis is going somewhere other than DC next season. And what is with you amature psychologists perporting to understand what makes this man tick? Fact is, he has brought up an issue...an issue on the verge of a destraction on the verge of creating a running back controversy which could divide feelings. He is motivating himself? How by sitting out practice while Betts and others are busting their humps? GET OUT! He should be gone. We paid a high price for this man...he should be flattered...and that should be enough to motivate him...that Gibbs and company thought he was worth a Hall of Famer and a pick. Hey CP...get bent.

Mediocre RB? C'mon bro, come back down to earth for a moment.

Funny that you're accusing people of being amateur psychologists, yet just before that you proceeded to give your amateur diagnosis of how CP ticks and that he's gone after this year... and that Champ would have stayed for the money. So I guess it's worth asking where did you get your PhD from?

Trust me, he wasn't coming back for the money. There are rumors that he needed to get out of town for personal reasons. Draw your own conclusions.

Redskins are 13-1 when that bum rushes for over 100 yards.

It's ridiculous to question the man's desire. Maybe people should start to pay attention to what he does when he's on the field and doesn't have the ball in his hands. Watch him block, watch him run after a defender after a turnover (the reason he got hurt last summer). Pay some effin attention to what he does, instead of bitching about his sense of humor, his costumes, and a trade that happened three years ago.

(Champ definitely wanted out)

A effing Men! I don't get why so many people look for a reason to hate one of the most talented all around tailbacks in the game.

Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.

Well, since we're busting out the stats for Portis, I thought this was pretty interesting:

Since Portis has been here, it always seemed to me that he hasn't really put up the yardage against NFC East opponents, especially when we're playing away. So I thought I'd look it up. Turns out, I was right...

Going back to 2004, Portis has played a total of seven games away against Dallas, Philly and the G-strings. His average? 55 yards per game. Only once has rushed for over 100 yards against an NFC East rival outside of Fed Ex Field -- at Philly in 2005 (27 carries, 112 yards). Through 15 games in total in the NFC East, he averages a very modest 73 yards per game.

Now I'm not saying Portis wasn't worth it. He's a hell of a player, and it's hard to imagine what might have been without him. But if I had a critique of Portis, it would be this -- How he stacks up and performs against our biggest rivals in six of the most pivotal games of the year.

They dont' know the game. All they do is cherry pick stats and listen to some loudmouth on TV or the radio who thinks that 40 gut is their pant size.

Portis is a true baller and the best runningback on the team. Anyone who can't see that might as well stick to Madden

Yea I agree TMC, I wish he would just shutup and let his actions speak for themselves!

With that said, I would agree IF he doesn't have a come back year, that I hope he does. I would think he's outta DC!

Re: Portis Says This Year Could Be Last With Skins.

CP is correct in stating that this could be his last season as a Redskin if he can't remain healthy. It just sucks if this becomes reality because we gave up a probable Hall of Fame corner for him (Champ Bailey). While I agree that he has been granted a pass this pre-season in fear of another injury, I'll never forget his efforts in 2005 and I truly believe when the whistle blows in regular season, he will bring it. He was rock solid year before last and he appeared to be well on his way to being something very special. On game day, he gave a 100%. Hell, even the pre-season game last year when he got hurt he was not going to back down from tackling the defender that was making his way down the field after our turnover. Even then he was motivated...in a freakin' pre-season game. Let's all hope CP makes a successful recovery this year and if for nothing else, we can have a few laughs if he returns to his "costume" laden press conferences.

I just think that a week or two before the season, if you're saying "this might be my last year" it kind of leaves it open to debate as far as where your head is at. Especially when no one else has suggested anything of this nature. I like the personality he brings to the team but sometimes you have to think before you speak.

This is eerily similar to when Gibbs says "If I don't start winning, they might send me back to NASCAR <<high pitched nervous laugh>>"

All CP has to do is play like he's shown he can and all will be fine

Yeah, I agree I don't think we need to be overpaying 2 running backs. Before we release him though I think we should secure another decent running back.
