I really like this idea as well. We haven't installed trips yet, but we do have a motion split left and split right.

This has helped me in my previous coaching adventures. Spread the field out a bit and if they don't check out of 8-9 in the box, throw a quick slant to a receiver. Next time they see the formation, they WILL check out and then you hit them with the power run up the gut for a big gainer.
