Re: Randy Thomas torn tricep
Wow, this is the last guy I wanted to lose. I personally think he is or was the best man on our line.

Re: Randy Thomas torn tricep (out 10-12 weeks)
I would like to see him on IR. I mean what if he comes back say in 9 weeks and can't play 100%. I would rather see a 100% Randy Thomas next year than a 80% Randy at the end of the season risking further injury to him.

Re: Randy Thomas torn tricep (out 10-12 weeks)
I can't resist the urge to take another shot at the NFL's roster rules.
This is a prime example. With injuries becoming more and more of a factor in what makes or breaks a team, there should be no big dilemma for teams in this situation. Allow Thomas to take the time he needs to get healthy, and let us bring someone else in. When he's back from injury -- let him play. The same thing happened to us in 2005. WR David Patten got hurt, but was ready to go by season's end just in time for the playoffs, but since we had to place him on injured reserve, we were stuck with the likes of Taylor Jacobs and Jimmy Farris. Why won't the NFL change this absurd rule? |

In thinking more about this situation, I think we should keep Thomas on the roster (assuming he has successful surgery and can return in 10 or 12 weeks), cut Bodiford, and sign another guard for depth. I thought the Redskins were being overly hopeful about him returning, but apparently after the surgery he will be near 100% once the healing process is finished.

From what I understand of Thomas' injury, he was undergoing surgery today. I think Schefter's timetable is wildly irresponsible considering he hasn't been opened up. I certainly hope it will be 10-12 weeks, but Greg Oden thought he was getting scoped earlier this week, too.

Well he is not on IR. And once you are on IR you can't off it until the next season.

Re: Randy Thomas torn tricep (out 10-12 weeks)
There's only so many injuries like this a team can sustain.
I think in the Super Bowl year of '91 there was only one significant injury -- Alvin Walton maybe? He was replaced by Danny Copeland who stepped up a had a great year. Pure luck with injuries is as big a part of this game as anything else, and two games into the season, we've had NONE of it. |

will w and k vincent aren't viable starters. fabini or a trade are the only real options really.

Re: Randy Thomas torn tricep
Adam Schefter reported on NFL Network that Thomas is out 10-12 weeks. Hopefully this is accurate and RT will be back the last half of the year.

The real question is do we put him on IR and free up a roster spot, or hold on to him with the chance he MAY be able to play in 12 weeks for the final 2-3 games? Im leaning toward IR and sign a vet. |

Re: Randy Thomas torn tricep
Lets say it's 10 weeks. You have the bye so that's 9 so at best he could be back by the 11th or 12th game?? If we are in the playoff hunt then you hold on to him.
