I think we can take a lot from this loss. First off Gardner IS a deep threat when the game is on the line. Secondly our offense is beginning to come together almost all around from Brunnel throwing a nice tight spiral, to Portis busting up the middle for 10, to our tight ends becoming desperately needed weapons. Our offensive line took a step back as did our defense, but you could argue that our best athletes weren't on the field for both units, Jansen= an extra second or two for Brunnel every down and Arrington= a tremendous pass rush threat at any time during the game and possibly even a big time play that could have won last nights game.
As for Gibbs being a sore loser, he and Parcells go way back. Remember 56, LT, of the Giants was the one who ended Theisman's career and because of that it took an additional two years to find the right QB in Doug Williams to win Gibbs next superbowl. Well we have a number 56 now, LA, and if he played last night would have been sent hunting after Vinny boy. Also Gibbs lost the NFC championship against Parcells in early 87. Gibbs said that he used to hate going up to the Meadowlands to play the Giants, from the fans to facing Parcells in his own back yard. I believe that Parcells is the only coach to have a winning record against Gibbs. So there is a lot of history between these two guys. Both Gibbs and Parcells have admitted to being friends off the field but when its time to coach the two wont speak to each other for years at a time. Put all that together overtop of the Skins Vs. Boys and you have one hell of a game. So just because Gibbs didn't look Parcells in the eye after the game, don't consider that sore, consider it a burning fire in the pit of Gibbs stomach that has been raging ever since he came back in January to win so bad and turn this franchise around that losing is not an option. And you better believe Gibbs has been waiting for this game ever since the schedules came out and to lose it knowing that it should have been won is hard to swallow. At least he shook Parcells hand after the game, not like Buddy Ryan who would run off the field after a loss not looking or talking to anyone. Now thats a sore loser. :thumb:
