We were in the power I offense.
I have no problem getting stuffed on two run plays from the 1 yard line when our best people are on the field. I have a lot of problems with the fact that it was Betts. I would have rather Campbell ran a couple more naked boots.

Betts is good at short yardage. I didn't have a problem with him being in the game. I had a problem JC spiking the ball on 1st down with 50 seconds left, and then the two run plays on 3rd and 4th down.

JC could have Qb sneaked it in on 1st down if he would have just taken his freakin time.

Re: f...gibbs

At least one of those plays in the red zone should have been a boot action play where Campbell has run/pass option. No question. And the fact that Dallas and Green Bay TORCHED their secondary and we didn't come out trying to throw at all is f-ing sickening. I'm as mad as I've been in a long damn time about this team. SHIT.

We just are not a very good passing team right now. Last year we had a QB who couldn't throw it downfield, now we have one who can but he is only in his 10th start. JC and the WR's need more work together. I would also like to see a 6'4 wr added in the future for the red zone.

Unfortunately they did do one boot...it was to Sellers on 2nd down..Campbell threw it behind him and he dropped it.
They should have tried it again though.

Not to split hairs, but that's not "short yardage" that's "goal line". There is a difference.
I totally agree with you about the spike, which I feel is Gibbs fault. The sidelines told him to spike it.

No, Betts is not good at short yardage. That's why he can't score touchdowns. Betts is the worst goal line back I have EVER seen. I knew they wouldn't score on 4th after he didn't break the tackle on third. That was horrendous.

Now, I'm not pointing all of this loss on Betts because it's clearly not all his fault, but he should have scored on 3rd down.

I agree. Portis should be playing when the game on the line. But he screwed up too. His fumble was pathetic and Troy Aikman pointed it out. So all you people who rip Betts when he fumbles, you need to rip Portis too.

Oh, and case you forgot, Portis dropped a pass that could have kept a drive alive.

Portis sucked yesterday.

As I pointed out in the Portis thread, it was a muffed hand off. Portis never had possession. It's a little different than breaking a 30 yard run and getting stripped from behind.

And yeah, Portis sucked yesterday... He only had 4.3 per carry and a touchdown. Betts was just spectacular with his 1.3 yard average and failed goal line attempts...

It was not a muffed handoff. That fumble was 100% on CP. Portis clinched down on the ball with his hands. You never ever do that on hand offs. You let the QB place the ball in your gut. Football 101. This is the stuff you do over and over again in practice, minicamps, OTA's and so on. Oh yeah, CP didn't participate in any of that stuff. He's too good for that.

Look, I'm not making this a Portis/Betts thing. CP is the better player. But I'm not going to sit here and make excuses for the guy like you are. When he screws up he deserves to get ripped. He screwed up yesterday and as a veteran he should not makes those mistakes.

A muffed handoff, bad exchange, whatever you want to call it, but it was not 100% Portis. Campbell seemed to be quite a distance away from Portis when he was making the handoff, which obviously shouldn't have been the case.

And I'm not excusing Portis from blame at all. That was a horribly executed play. My point to you is, Portis fumbling has nothing to do with Betts' inability to get into the endzone, in two attempts from the one yard line.

man i hate calling you out all the time but your perspective stinks. portis didnt think he was too good for that, gibbs did if anyone. and you are making it a cp/betts thing because you dont know the redskins personel. you think portis gets tackled on 3rd and goal, no way, betts doesnt have a nose for the endzone...portis does....the argument is alot deeper, i will get deeper if you continue to think portis doesnt get in.

you said shotgun and pass earlier would have been your call? well again you dont know the redskins then. they went to what they think they do best and thats power running with a play action mixed in. by the way saunders let everyone know that we have touchdown to cooley on the play action play call. shotgun pass is not what we do best or have the personel to do at the goaline...our wr are good in space but not jump balls or positioning in tight quarters. if we ever line up in shotgun at the 1 it will be a designed JC run....KNOW YOUR TEAM!!!!!!!! or stick with the patriots who you are obviously gay for.
