Re: How is LaRon Landry progressing?

Good thread, I was wondering the same thing the other day. The best I can gather so far is that he knows his place and isn't getting in the way. Mainly I look at how good Sean Taylor is doing this year and compare it to how he struggled so much last year-a big reason being that he and Arch were never comfortable together. Landry and Taylor seem to be working much more efficiently together.

And I think Landry is more comfortable adapting and ceding the spotlight to Taylor than Arch probably ever was.

You almost have to cede the spotlight to S.T when you are the Rookie, but at the same time. Landry is not being asked to to anything more than his own job. He is fast, is a hitter and seems to be a pretty good cover man. As Gibbs would say, he is also "Super-smart"

He's doing a great job. I think Taylor and Laron have a chemistry and I also think Taylor is in much better physical shape this year. He is approaching safety like a balk hawk not a linebacker trying to knock someone out.

Even though I'm sure we'll all agree I do miss those hits........

excellent responses...I love LaRon's ferocity when he approaches the line to hit somebody..it's like he has a quiet intensity about him...and from what i can see, his performance allows Taylor to hang back and do what he did in college..Assuming that was the plan , taylor took it upon himself to re-sculpt his body so he could roam the secondary..smart move on his part. I think LaRon will keep getting better and better. Are opponents talking about him yet?

I love the way Williams is deploying the safeties, allowing each to play to their strengths. Landry is already very good, and someday will be great. Williams hasn't blitzed much in recent weeks, but you can bet that he has some blitz packagers featuring Landry in coming weeks.

my point exactly (especially concerning taylor)...Laron seems comfortable. in his college clips he was always on a tight end or slamming somebody crossing the middle it seemed. and Taylor is a natural ballhawk..at Miami one year he had , i think, 10 interceptions..plus 2 in the orange bowl - both on long range passes...I had to laugh at Brett Favre trying to test us deep..his passes seemed to tail off and Sean taylor was there EVERY time waiting..I agree with the assessment of Gregg Willliams' strategy..
