Brunell is Gibbs' boy so forget about it
As fans we have to realize that Brunell is Gibbs' boy he is going to stick with Brunell throughout the season. The only exception will be if there is an injury. We will be lucky to be 8-8.

Brunell is the only starter who I feel needs some time on the bench. Of about 120 minutes of football, he's only been good in about 15 of them. Gibbs' entire system depends on the credibility of the deep ball (run, throw deep, run, run, throw deep). Defenses are not going to back off Portis until we get a few deep completions. Ramsey's short passing game blows and Brunell's deep ball blows. Right now, I'd go with Ramsey.
I was against getting Brunell to begin with (due to dead cap space concerns) but giving up a high second rounder for him when Kerry Collins and others were on the market was insane. Our dline could use a pass-rushing threat and we could use some depth at safety or TE or LB. That 2nd rounder would have helped us out nicely. Brunell just doesn't cut it and anyone who thinks he does hasn't been watching out scoreboard lately. |

Agreed!

I would have preferred HOF Coach Gibbs come in and do better with the same material OBC could not. Instead, HOF Coach Gibbs has gone with his heart! Getting Brunell, calling all of the uneeded TOs, and throwing the red flags! Wrong moves in the wrong place at the wrong time!

Bigredskin - if I could understand what you wrote I'd retort. Remember Ramsey was used for times in the Spurrier era to come in and launch a ball as far as he could, which led to like 3 INTs. Brunell isn't hurting us anymore, but he sure as hell isn't moving us. Can't run without the threat of a pass, and can't pass without the threat of a run.

I could hold onto the ball and just get sacked (like Brunell was 5 times last week - largely due to holding onto the ball too long). But that doesn't mean I'd make a good QB. The QB is ultimately responsible for moving the chains. 1 or 2 drops by Coles and 1 fumble by Portis isn't goog enough of an excuse to say that those people are why we can't make the offense work. How many deep passes has Brunell thrown this season? I don't know what the exact number is, but a lot. How many has he completed? 5 or 6...at most. That's not good. Brunell has had 4 good drives. Other than that, he hasn't justified Gibbs' decision to start him. |

Portis and Coles put the ball on the ground. If that continues, it doesn't matter who's QB.

If I recall, drops and fumbles didn't kill all of our drives, or even close to the majority of them. When drops and fumbles weren't our problem (i.e. against TB and Dallas) why is it that we still couldn't get it done? I want to actually hear someone defending Brunell say that he has looked good. If you can show me someone who says that, I'll show you a blind crackhead. |
