Re: Are a we playoff team?

We aren't looking like we did at the start of the season. Since Green Bay, Campbell hasn't been the same. I don't know what to say other that no. There's too many quality teams. This is my look at who akes the play-offs now:

1.Dallas
2.Green Bay
3.Tampa Bay
4. Seattle
5.NY Giants
6.Carolina???

on second thought maybe we do have a chance!

Re: Are a we playoff team?

we are competing so I guess we could be considered a playoff team, there is much room for improvement however.

Re: Are a we playoff team?

With our O line beat to hell and with CP being held to 70-80 yards a game with JC not even getting 100 yards passing, do you think we are a playoff team? And this was one of the weaker opponents on our schedule. We are going to get beat up against NE and NY. We might be able to beat the Jets on defense alone and a half decent game from the offense, but it will be a physical matchup, one that we might not be able to come through unscathed, meaning more injuries. WE are not a playoff team as of now, but it can change. Every remaining opponent is tough, even lowly Buffalo can be tough. The D can't be expected to keep us in every game if it is on the field for 40 minutes every game. Today's perfromance was ridiculous plain and simple.

The negativity burns my eyessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss, Arizona is not a bad team more like a decent team. We won while playing terribly I think that is a good sign, maybe we got lucky or maybe we are a dangerous team when we play good and are firing on all cylinders

Re: Are a we playoff team?

We have a defense that could carry us deep into the playoffs if the offense would hold up their end. I'm afraid that the offense will prevent us from making the playoffs altogether. At best, this looks like a 9-7 team to me.

Re: Are a we playoff team?

VERY SIMPLE....YES. We will get in and we will improve as these WINS keep on tickin.

Ugly or not today, and YES we were about to have a heart attack on the edge of our seats! But we found a way to get a W and in the end thats all that matters. Don't forget WE GAVE TWO away! Stole one.

We will continue to feed of our defense, the offense will improve as we get healthy & will will peak at the right time. 10 WINS comin up!

Re: Are we a playoff team?

The Skins are not even the best team in their division at this point so currently I think they are a wild card team at best. But the wild card is still the playoff and anything can happen in the playoffs.

I just think this team makes too many mistakes and the O is not good enough to take them very far in the playoffs.

Re: Are we a playoff team?

Someone earlier said being a "playoff team" and being a "playoff caliber team" are different and I couldn't agree more. We are not a playoff caliber team until our line gets healthy again. We may be a playoff team at the end of the season b/c our schedule isn't too tough. Outside of NE, we don't have any real tough non conference games (i dont think TB is very good). And conference games are a toss-up so if we can go 2-2 i think we'll be ok.

There was a bit of a quicksand feel to the game yesterday, esp after the penalty sustained scoring drive by mistakes from Fletcher and Landry. So I don't think there's a need to overreact about the defense. What gets me is that the offense did absolutely nothing in the 4th quarter again. I'm beginning to really believe that its a conditioning issue more than anything else (esp with the line). Backup offensive linemen usually make up for what they lack in skill and size with hussle and that doesn't seem to be the case with us. Next year we had better get guys working their butts off in training camp.

Re: Are we a playoff team?

I dont see how we can be at this point in the season. I think we struggle way to much on offense to try and figure out who or what kind of team we are offensively. We CAN NOT run the football. Our magnificant staff has to figure out a way to move the ball. Our defense has been playing really good football until the end of the game when they exposed the weak part of that defense (deep middle) our corners, for the life of me, I can not explain why they play so freaking far off the receivers when they only need to move the ball 10 to 15 yards to get in FG range. they were 8 to 10 yards off at the snap.

playoffs? I just in my right mind say yes right now. Dallas, NY Giants are better than we are right now. Tampa, Seattle are better. Chicago is playing better and only getting better with Greise (spelling???) WE are 4-2 right now, but games with NE, 2 against dallas, another against philly and NY, i just dont know.

Re: Are we a playoff team?

We definitely are a playoff team when we have beat teams that will contend for that wildcard spot. Both detriot and arizona were teams that can take it. We need those tiebreakers. We are in great shape right now. So yes, we are a playoff team and i don't think many teams in the NFC are better than us, even though they probably will have a couple extra wins at the end of the season. The only teams that scare me are the cowboys and the giants. We will get a feel for them in the regular season and when playoff time roles around and we play either team for the third time i am more confident in our coaches to breakdown the other team with the experience from the regular season, than the coaches on those teamss.

Interesting that the 2 teams that scare you happen to be in our division.
I tend to agree with you, which is why I think we are NOT a playoff caliber team. We are 3rd in our own division out of 4 teams for heavens sake. And we are talking about the PLAYOFFS.....PLAYOFFS?

Re: Are we a playoff team?

This could be a game where we realize we cant "run first" this year.
Our line either has to radically change or we need to change our offensive philosopy.
I dont know who always says this...but right now I think we need to shift.
"Pass to open up the run."

We may have to go shotgun 40% of the time. Even on first downs....try hurry up too.
This offense cant play smashmouth anymore....we need to deal with that reality.
Yes, we can do this 3 times with Sellers if it is first and goal at the 3....but 10 yards running the old school way is likely part of the past with this line.

Betts has returned to his standard "backup" running that we've seen for years and something is wrong with Portis anyways. (The reason Betts rocked last year was due to the line, we were all suprised at how well he did, because we knew him)

Gibbs needs to make Campbell throw the ball early to get in synch with receivers...that didn't happen because of conservative playcalling due to the Oline injuries.
He never got in synch and that hurts his development as much as sacks.
It reminded me of the Brunell days.
This guy has a rifle of an arm....it is time to trust him and chuck it!
and c'mon Gibbs.....3 TDs and 1 int is better than 1 TD and zero picks if you know what I mean....you cant live in fear of picks and win!
You are just handcuffing our best offensive weapon.

YES, you heard me....due to crappiness of others.....I just said.
Jason Campbell is our BEST OFFENSIVE WEAPON right now.

USE EM....he doesn't lose games due to his mistakes.

Re: Are we a playoff team?

I'm just afraid of the lose mentality we have......."every game is gonna come down to the wire" "this league is like that" "tough fought victory". We will never make it to the superbowl with this loser mentality.

Re: Are we a playoff team?

It's not so much about being negative, and not about being a kool-aid drinker. It's about calling it like we see it.

Our defense was in the right place at the right time on the two interceptions. Warner just flat out missed his targets. It wasn't like Taylor or Fletcher made amazing plays on the ball, Warner threw it right to them. Now, you do have to credit Taylor and Fletcher for impressive run-backs. But can you count on your defense to get INTs like that when you're playing QBs who are considered above-average? Can we expect that when we play Dallas? New England? Hell, even McNabb again?

The offense is not looking strong with so many linemen hurt. We can't run the ball effectively, and that has to concern everybody. Without Rabach, we were very vulnerable up the middle, and Campbell had to rush several throws.

If Rabach comes back strong, I'll feel a little better. But in general, the offensive line all needs to play better, or we'll be lucky to squeak into the playoffs at all.

Exactly, call a spade a spade.
