You may be too young to remember this. But in the opening game of the 1991 season the Redskins were up 45-0 on the Lions. With the ball on the Lions 1 yard line and a chance to go up 52-0, Gibbs pulled Rypien for Jeff Rutledge and had him kneel down 4 straight times so as not to run up the score.

We won, and we won with class.

I remember it well. Gave me a huge amount of respect for Gibbs and showed what character he has.

Say what you will, you won't find Gibbs shoving cameramen, screwing his secretary and cheating in football.
