I'm going go out on a limb to say this, and I know people aren't going to like to hear it, but...Laveranues Coles has not lived up to expectations yet. I know he's injured and playing hurt. But while he had good numbers last year, he has not been the dominating force that makes opponents tremble in fear for our passing game. He's part of the second-tier quality wideouts in the game, well behind receivers like Owens, Moss, Holt and Harrison. Until we get a playmaker on the level of those players, or close to it, (along with a quarterback whose job, everyone agrees, is to simply not make mistakes and just 'manage the game') our passing game will continue to underachieve.

you're not going out on a limb. people have been questioning whatsup with Coles drop off in performance a lot recently, since we haven't seen the separation he used to get as a Jet or an early season Spurrier 'Skin. w/o a deep threat, the defense gets on their toes, not their heels, and just lay the wood on Portis or Brunell or whatever underneath receiver.

without a power back that can consistently be productive against 8man fronts (and take the constant beating that comes with it ie. fumbles). the deep threat aspect to the Gibbs game gets even more vital. right now we have neither.
