Re: Does Brandon Lloyd REALLY deserve all this hate?
Because, like every coach in the league, Gibbs saw a talented guy and thought he could reach him. He's made great strides with the disturbed in the past (Manley, Riggins, et al.) so it wasn't out of line to think he could do good things here. It hasn't happened.

Re: Does Brandon Lloyd REALLY deserve all this hate?
Brandon Lloyd has never been a Pro Bowl caliber receiver. even in his best season in San Fran he only had a little over 700 yards and 5 TD's. So why did we pick him up? Because he had a streak of good games before he hit Free Agency. The coaching staff saw potential in him to be a number 2 receiver to take some pressure off of Moss. He has not lived up to his potential plain and simple. What I think bothers people is that we expected him to do the same thing here. Obviously our expectations were unrealistic. Whether it is the scheme, depression, or his lack of intrest I do not know, but he has not produced.
Who knows, he might be better off playing for somebody else. To keep dogging him week in and week out is not going to make him anymore productive or want to stay here in Washington. Surely, we can find some better topics to discuss. BL is not a factor on gameday, so lets leave it alone. I understand that we lost draft picks to get they guy and we will not get them back. We also lost draft picks on guys like Sartz and Palmer who didn't even make the practice squad. Are we complaining about that? No, because there is nothing we can do about it. At least BL is still on the team and contributes in some ways (primarily on the scout team offense). Maybe if he does go next season we can recoup something for him, if not there is nothing we can do about it. He hasn't produced in a season and a half. To constantly beat this dead horse is silly. Bottom line, he wears a uniform and works for our team. Just support him. Deep down everyone wants to see him do well because the skins will be better if he does. |

DJ Nemo -- Cooley on EITM said Gibbs was really pissed off about the hat. And didn't you notice it went from great to sour really quick? Im not totally sure if it was about a hat, or what it was. I just think that when the guy has had the ball thrown to him, he's done okay.

Re: Does Brandon Lloyd REALLY deserve all this hate?
JoeRedskin: I bet if you look at targeted, Yoder has more than Lloyd. Golston has been a beast since his rookie year and getting a lot of play time.
Freddy, I've read the article by JLC. Does Lloyd have problems, most definitely. However, when it comes to game day it seems like he's there, upbeat, and helpful. I have seen lloyd put in some very solid blocks, etc. Could Lloyd be a total bust, absolutely. I just don't feel he's had a chance to be used like he should be here in DC. I have a feeling he'll be another player that leaves DC and kinda explodes into at least a solid player on a team, if not a very good #2. He has his down side, definitely. His personal stuff is a problem. I don't want to say I'm completely going to bat for this guy, because I don't know him behind the scenes. Everything coming out of DC media wise seems horribly skewed to me. Especially with Gibbs in office, the double talk is at an alltime high (this isn't a Gibbs bash, it's the truth. He says a lot and nothing at the same time. So does his team.) I just feel that we should give him a chance, it's frustrating never getting a look in the offense, does he blow up sometimes, probably, but I bet the guy just wants to win.

Lloyd has to earn both the coaches and the QB's trust to get an opportunity, he clearly hasn't done that.

Re: Does Brandon Lloyd REALLY deserve all this hate?
We can trade or dump him in February and save the roster bonus due him in March
With a new quarterback and the money that he and Moss make you would think they would have wanted to work on timing like Cooley and Campbell did [ala Jerry Rice] Quote:

Even if Loyd does this to us, I don't think many fans or players even will say, "damn, we should've kept him." Just like nobody in Philly was going to say, yeah, we should keep TO even though he publicly insults the qb & complains to the press every time he doesn't get his way. We're all going on second & third hand sources here, but I don't see how so many people can speak the same things about the guy and not at least be partially correct. After all, we're not talking about someone whose job is that complex to evaluate. Loyd is not being criticized because he's a philosopher trying to convince us of an unpopular theory, he's a damn football player. Football players have and always will be evaluated in part on their attitude towards the team. His sucks. |

Re: Does Brandon Lloyd REALLY deserve all this hate?
at this point with the way our offense stinks, why not give him some plays. We really need to line up with more 3 wr sets. Dont let the stats from the Jets game mislead you. The Jets are horrible defensively. Against good teams coming up, I think we need to spread them out and run from those sets. 3WR sets with Moss, El, and Lloyd. I still think the kid can play. If we get him in the game and let him get some reps I think he could end up a productive guy. I am in no means giving the guy a free pass. He does seem like a head case. But look at what a happy WR can get you. The other Moss (Randy) , TO both are happy and both are producing. I am in no way comparing Lloyd to either of those guys, but if you have a happy player, then they produce better. that is just todays NFL with the Divas out there. and Lloyd has the attitude of a Diva, just not the stats to back it up. I think for a WR to be productive he has to have the chances to catch the ball. they have to develop a rhythm and he has not been given the plays to get to that point. Our offense stinks with out him, it couldn't be much worse with him??
we can alway wait until the other Moss is a FA next year? |

Re: Does Brandon Lloyd REALLY deserve all this hate?
Didnt both Lloyd and El have similar numbers last year? We all thought they were both busts. Well El has been given a chance this year, he has done some great things. Lloyd half assed in the opening game and he is no longer a the viable WR we paid him to be? Put the guy out there, the skins already payed him, even as a decoy, if they leave him wide open.. throw it to him. Christ! Thrash cant get open and when he is, he drops it! But damn Thrash does "fight his guts out" when dropping passes.

Re: Does Brandon Lloyd REALLY deserve all this hate?
The real issue is that Lloyd is "hated" because he represents why the Skins haven't done anything of substance since Danny has been around.
He is a "bust" and that pisses us off. Most skins fans have problems with how we carry so much dead cap money and how we waste so many draft picks.....hell....Lloyd isn't alone...he's just the only bust currently on the team. There always seems to be one...Last year the hate was very spread out with Arch, ARE, Duckett and Andre Carter taking heat. If we hadn't given away big bucks and draft picks for him, we wouldn't be so pissed. So, though people make some pretty nasty comments about him personally....it aint really personal....its about frustration with the front office.

Re: Does Brandon Lloyd REALLY deserve all this hate?
Bottom line is that we are not a passing team, but we have a lot of quality WRs on our team. There are not enough balls to go around. I wish, Moss and Randle El and McCardell and Thrash were more productive.
But Campbell only completed 12 pass Sunday and most of those went to Cooley. How is the world can any of our receivers get going when they only get looked at 4 or 5 times a game. I know the Skins want to run the ball, but Campbell can't get in a groove if he only gets to pass the ball about 4 or 5 times a series. And That's assuming we get some 1st downs! Lloyd can't get in the game above McCardell who doesn't get any looks as it is on gameday! |

Re: Does Brandon Lloyd REALLY deserve all this hate?
Yes Lloyd deserves every bit of hate. He has received an enormous amount of money and has done nothing to earn it.
The Skins front office also deserves a lot of hate for this one. Both Gibbs and Cerrato. Gibbs for thinking he could change this guy and Cerrato for once again going back to his old stomping grounds of the 49'ers. I think Cerrato still believes it's 1989 and the 49'ers are defending SB champs and they have great players. We keep getting burned with 49er problems like Lloyd and who can forget Stubblefield (Stubbletoe) another bust from SF. We need a GM and that's the bottom line. |
