Just so there's no confusion, this is the option read I'm talking about (and yes I know Campbell is not Vince Young and I understand the difference between college and pros etc.) I just think they could catch the defense sleeping once every three games or so:

For some reason, I think people are thinking you're saying line Jason up in a wishbone formation and let her rip!

Speaking of which, you remember the old wishbone don't you, 70? Oklahoma and Nebraska could run the hell out of that thing!

It was pretty hard to stop. It still is to a lesser extent. When Navy plays good teams they usually need a series or two to get adjusted because they never face it any more. Update: While Navy does run the triple option I don't think they use a wishbone formation that much, if at all. Someone else could correct me perhaps.

Actually come to think of it with Sellers and Portis and Betts, we have awesome wishbone potential. We've already run the single wing this year, so why not? I'm kidding of course.

JC isn't a natural runner like Vince Young or any of the other mobile QBs in the league. He's not going to out run anyone and he certainly isn't as nimble as VY.

Letting JC run it is the quickest avenue to disaster.

I've thought that for weeks too. Seems a good way to keep a d on its toes & gives the line a different way to block if they're getting beat straight up.

Campbell has certainly demonstrated an ability to outrun defensive linemen the few times that he has taken off. I hold my breath whenever he does so - but I like the fact that he can make a play with his legs when the opportunity presents itself. He had a nice 25 yard run against Philly that might have gone for a 45 yard TD had he not tripped trying to hurdle ARE.

THe old dart right that Ryp ran a lot required the H back to cut the DE on the offenses right. It's illegal now if the lineman is engaged which he usually is. It seemed like they scored at least once a game with that play in '91. They could still roll out more with Cooley dragging underneath, ARE crossing and Thrash or McCardell clearing out (the old 49er play that Dwight Clark had The Catch on and the Packers and Eagles still run all the time). While JC isn't Vince Young he is at least as mobile as Montana or Brett.

No he doesn't. He had a 29 yard run and Portis beat that with a 32 yard run.

32 yards isnt very impressive, with a running style team, after 8 games.
